Data Modelers needs 7 years of overall Enterprise IT experience

Data Modelers requires:

  • Enterprise Data Architecture vision and an understanding of a Data Governance framework.
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Science preferred or equivalent work experience
  •  5+ years progressive experience in system/data analysis related to Data modelling , data integration and data delivery work.
  • · 4+ Data modelling experience using Ewrin, ER Studio or similar tools
  • Bachelor's degree in technical or scientific fields such as engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related STEM degree program
  • Deep financial industry knowledge (ideally in insurance or retirement services)
  • Experience with Unified Modeling Language (UML) Class Diagrams, object-based modeling concepts, and logical data models.
  • Design, development, presentation, and analysis of a domain based logical data model.
  • Developing, maintaining and/or enhancing formal Ontologies
  • Resource Description Framework (RDF), SPARQL, Web Ontology Language (OWL), SQL
  • True experience in using owl in a graph with real data in graph
  • RDF based grap
  • Relational and dimensional data modeling
  • Working knowledge of ER Studio, Power Designer, Protégé, Stardog, and / or other data modeling and ontology tools
  • Experience in data modeling principles/methods including conceptual, logical & physical Data Models.
  • Strong understanding of data management concepts (data modeling, data governance, data quality, data lineage, data ontologies)
  • Strong in gaining knowledge of new technologies across data management disciplines and conduct proof of concepts of well-established and innovative enterprise software tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, accountability, written and verbal communication skills, time management are key competencies to this position.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and ability to communicate Data Governance concepts to technical and non-technical staff, to work independently with minimal supervision including the organization and prioritization of tasks to meet deadlines and department goals.
  • Background in finance (ideally in insurance or retirement services) and facilitation skills to be an effective as a consultant to various projects.
  • Data Modeling / Cataloguing / Wrangling tools: Experience with tools such as ERWin, ER/Studio, Waterline Data, Collibra, Erwin, Hadoop, Trifacta, Paxata, Tableau, etc.
  • Ability to work on multiple major projects simultaneously and learn new tools.
  • Understanding of machine learning, statistics, natural language processing, etc.
  • Experience with Master Data or Metadata Management software.

 Data Modelers duties:

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert on development and maintaining Enterprise Ontology
  • Drive Ontology usage and adoption across the enterprise:
  • Use Ontology as key input into Master Data Management solution
  • Use Ontology in enterprise data modeling as a single integrated definition of data, unbiased of any system or application
  • Stimulate ontology usage in data governance, help to uncover rules that govern data
  • Practice ontology in data integration; verify the user-defined mappings used to integrate data from multiple sources; auto-generate mapping using the ontology as a global query schema
  • Use ontology in data virtualization efforts
  • Promote ontology usage in data science to uncover hidden insights
