About the Role:
Reporting to the Transition Architect, the Data Center Operations Manager is responsible for the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the Data Center technology team, and in ensuring that high levels of customer satisfaction are maintained for all data center services. This position will also act as an escalation point for critical situations within the data center environment and will provide leadership to a team of technical staff.
What You’ll Do:
- Build high-performing teams that accomplish organizational changes, goals, and priorities.
- Provide leadership, skill development and mentorship for team members.
- Actively involved in the interviewing, on-boarding, off-boarding, training, career development and performance management of team members.
- Monitor team performance and report on metrics, i.e., SLA’s, team utilization, re-work, etc.
- Manage remote employees as well as local.
- Ensures a safe, secure and legal work environment.
- Coordinate, assign, and delegate daily tasks, help in documenting issues, and provide performance/utilization reviews.
- Coach and advise team on strategies to improve sales performance, achieve goals and meet expectations.
- Lead pre-sales meetings with various stakeholders, complete or delegate assigned tasks according to plan and recommendations.
- Review LOE (level of effort) to ensure accuracy with hours, cost estimates and budget.
- Manage multiple infrastructure setup/maintenance projects concurrently.
- Ensure operational metrics are appropriately defined and reported consistently.
- Participate in and support process improvement initiatives.
- Develop and review guidelines, standards, policies and procedures.
- Create and implement operating plans to achieve sales initiatives and segment goals.
- Maintain high level of customer satisfaction through key account client partnerships.
- Identify opportunities to save costs and more effectively manage.
- Provide data center infrastructure, rack/stack, compute, network and cabling support, as needed.
- Serve as Primary technical contact for Data Center tours.
Qualifications & Interests:
- Associates degree or equivalent level of experience.
- Must have a minimum of 8 years of IT work experience, developing and implementing technology solutions.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in managing and/or directing IT operational teams.
- Vendor Management expertise.
- Experience working with various networking hardware such as multiplexers, routers, and switches.
- Knowledge of common network protocols such as TCP/IP.
- Experience with fault isolation and troubleshooting networks and computers including LAN, WAN and servers.
- Familiarity with configuring networking and security equipment, Microsoft Windows, and various versions of Linux.
- Experience with data communication issues.
- Proficiency in Network troubleshooting tools (ping, traceroute, SNMP).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and interruptions.
- Good understanding on Internet technologies (firewall/router/switch/VPN/DNS/Proxy).
- Strong conflict negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage competing client demands.
- Strong analytical skills regarding technical or project management issues.
- Comfort level and ability to interact and communicate with Senior Management.
- Excellent oral and written communication, and presentation skills; including the ability to present technical issues to a non-technical audience.
- Demonstrated ability to complete multiple tasks concurrently and deliver quality results under pressure.
- CCNA, VMWare, Windows, CompTIA A+, and other certifications preferred.
