PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

As part of Enterprise Cloud Services the Cloud Infrastructure Services team is SAP's Cloud Infrastructure provider and is responsible for running SAP’s backend technology including operations of state of the art data centers around the globe. Enterprise Cloud Services - Cloud Infrastructure Services unit acts in a shared services mode for internal SAP customers across all Board Areas is one important pillar of SAP’s strategy.

 

The Data Center Management unit within Cloud Infrastructure Services is the shared service unit providing services within all SAP’s Data Centers: IMAC-D services, hardware maintenance, asset management, supplier coordination.

 

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

The Data Center Engineer will work within SAP’s Cloud Data Center Management Team.  The Data Center Engineer part of a global team and is the overall responsible for a Data Center Location. The responsibilities for this position may include some or all of the following:

  • Interface and coordination to all external Service Providers/Vendors for Data Center Management
  • Local responsibility for IMAC-D services & processes
  • Data Center Capacity management
  • Coordination and assist of hardware maintenance activities
  • Data Center Inventory management / Asset Management
  • Co-location Management incl. service reviews
  • Data Center access management/ Access control
  • Supporting of finance and contract management
  • Data quality & reporting

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Required skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Data Center Equipment (Compute, Network, Storage)
  • Advanced knowledge in hardware maintenance
  • Advanced knowledge in Co Location Management
  • Ability to organize work and complete tasks independently

 

Preferred skills

  • Organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate and work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Must be adaptable to change
  • Fluent English verbal and writing

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in Data Center Management
