In late 2018, New York City selected Fullstack to build a world-class cybersecurity bootcamp, as part of its $100M Cyber NYC initiative. As the Lead Instructor for Fullstack's new cyber security bootcamp, you will be designer, developer and teacher of our immersive cyber security education program. You will spend your first 6 months at Fullstack Cyber Academy helping to write a state-of-the-art infosec curriculum (working alongside another instructor), including: lectures, exercises and red team/blue team labs and workshops.You'll lead instruction for the bootcamp program, working alongside our dedicated support and administrative staff. You'll facilitate a dynamic and collaborative classroom community, guiding students through development of stellar projects and PoC's.

This role is based in New York City and reports directly to the Managing Director of the Fullstack Cyber Bootcamp.


In this role, you will

  • Design and develop a cutting edge cyber security bootcamp curriculum, drawing on your experience in the cyber security world and Fullstack's best practices for immersive tech education

  • Lead instruction on cyber security topics, including leading whole-class lectures, activity-based learning workshops, and large team competition activities
  • Work with students 1-on-1, in pairs and in groups to support their learning and growth in the program
  • Create a positive, professional and inclusive learning environment and culture for our students
  • Iterate on our curriculum over time based on student achievement data, feedback from students and employer partners, and evolving trends in the industry
  • Keep up to date on relevant trends in the cyber security field, including (for example) attending conferences like DEFCON/Black Hat/HOPE (to network with other people in the infosec community), building your skills, and participating in CTF challenges


You are a great candidate if you have:

  • At least 3 years of cybersecurity work experience and at least 1 year of teaching experience (this can be broad - traditional classroom roles, TA'ing in college, mentoring junior professionals, etc.)

  • Certifications in cybersecurity (e.g. Certified Ethical Hacker, OSCP/GPEN, CISSP, CCNA, MCSE) and IT (e.g. CompTIA A+/Networking+/Security+)
  • Subject matter expertise (and the ability to provide instruction in) some of the following domains:
  • System administration (Windows and Linux) and systems security
  • Networking, firewalls and network security
  • Applied cryptography
  • Red team skills (e.g. penetration testing using Kali Linux, OWASP Top 10, Metasploit, NMAP, Burp Suite, DDOS)
  • Blue team skills (e.g. intrusion detection, hardening the enterprise, NESSUS, digital forensics / incident response, data loss prevention, malware analysis, working in a SOC/NOC environment)
  • Scripting using Bash, Powershell and Python
  • Risk management
  • Security Strategy & Analysis
  • Threat Intelligence
  • Governance, Risk & Compliance
  • Infosec Culture
  • Exceptional and engaging presentation skills - particularly when it comes to complex technical information
  • A desire to work on a fast-moving, entrepreneurial "startup within a startup" with a high degree of ownership and independence
  • A passion for the cyber security industry and a desire to be part of growing the careers of a diverse new generation of cyber security professionals

You are an exceptional candidate for this role if you also have:

  • Bachelor's and/or Masters degree in Computer Science or a related field

  • Experience teaching in an immersive "bootcamp" type of environment, particularly a cyber-security focused curriculum
  • Experience managing teams, ideally leading other instructors in an academic environment
  • Experience developing pedagogical methods and curricula in cybersecurity
  • Given a talk at an infosec conference, and/or been published in peer-reviewed infosec journal(s) within the past 5 years
  • Technical experience in a data center environment
  • Ability to write code (front-end, back-end and/or database)
