Job Description

Summary:  This is a customer facing position responsible for the annual planning and sales execution of Tyson Frozen Packaged goods at Walmart by achieving sales volume and financial objectives for Tyson Foods.  The responsibility of the Customer Development Manager (CDM) is to build strong relationships with both Walmart and Internal Business partners providing sales direction and robust analytical information to grow Category Sales. The CDM will plan, forecast, budget, implement and measure appropriate strategies and tactics for volume growth with Walmart's merchant teams and key internal stakeholders. 

Key success factors:   Include delivering on Annual Operating Plan (AOP) profit targets by achieving targeted volume, gross sales after trade (GSAT) / Trade as Percent of Revenue (TAPR) and DSMPA (Distribution, Shelving, Merchandising, Pricing and Activation). This position must develop and/or enhance a strategic relationship with the Customer at multiple levels resulting in strategic business planning and partnership. The duty of the Customer Development Manager (CDM) is to provide sales direction, support and information to Walmart and Tyson Foods Inc. CDM will plan, forecast, budget, implement and measure appropriate strategies and tactics for volume growth with Walmart's merchant teams and key internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities:  Included (but not limited to): Joint growth planning across all assigned categories (measured monthly, quarterly and annually); promotional planning; regularly conducting business reviews both internally and externally, implementing and executing store/DC replenishment strategies and engaging internal/external retail teams for flawless execution of initiatives. Additionally, the CDM must demonstrate the necessary interpersonal skills to partner with All Tyson's support Teams (i.e. Sales, Strategy & Planning, Business Units/Marketing, Demand Planning, Shopper Marketing, CPFR and Category Insights) to align on objectives, needs and activities that will grow the business. Through their engagement with the Team's Finance Manager and the Team Performance Manager (TPM), the CDM must properly manage and resolve all trade related deductions and/or payments.  The CDM must become familiar with the Team’s scorecard metrics.  Retail link reporting and analysis; weekly sales quota reports with the implementation of new product innovation.  Specific duties are product portfolio management, forecast accuracy, distribution voids and correcting out of stocks.  Collaborate with demand and production planning to optimize product flow and efficiencies, sales mix, and volume goals, while understanding the impact to the customer’s metrics (dollars, units, pounds, markdowns, and profitability). 

Requirements:

  • Education:  Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Experience:  5+ years of relevant CPG experience preferably to include a combination of Sales/Customer Management, Customer/Trade Marketing and Category Management.  Previous Customer (Walmart and/or Sam’s Club) experiencepreferred.  Syndicated data experiencerequired.  Walmart Retail Link experiencerequired. Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel Office Suite. 
  • Communication:  Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:  No direct report.  However, position will assist in developing an analyst within the team.
  • Travel:  3-4 trips annually.
