This position is the primary technical interface between customer application engineering teams and Tenneco internal teams, i.e. Core and Systems Engineering, Commercial Business Units, Program Management, Manufacturing and Quality.




  • Direct and promote technical communications between Tenneco and customer engineering teams
  • Technical contact with customer during product development process
  • Support negotiation of technical requirements / VOC, including customer and Tenneco sign-off
  • Support of RFQ design content to align with technical and commercial requirements, as required
  • Direct RFQ Technical Review to demonstrate achievement of technical targets, as required
  • Review final production products to ensure achievement of customer design intent
  • Technical coordination of customer vehicle build activity and results
  • Coordinate design cost reduction opportunities with customer
  • Lead communication of technical problem solving with customer
  • Engineering lead for customer launch readiness reviews
  • Evaluate and communicate customer needs for new technologies
  • Manage overall program expenses to meet project budget requirements
  • Oversee the release of all designs into customer data management systems, as required
  • Represent Tenneco on site at customer locations as needed
  • Travel to customer, supplier, and Tenneco manufacturing locations as needed
  • Support and adhere to TA EH&S policies and procedures.

Required Experience

Basic Requirements:

  • BSME Degree required
  • Five years automotive background
  • Product development engineering experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of personal computers, spreadsheet calculations, program management and presentations
  • Ability to travel to suppliers, plants, and customer locations to support development requirements
  • Knowledge of exhaust / powertrain / acoustics engineering is preferred
  • Knowledge of engineering predictive and analytical tools is preferred
  • Manufacturing experience is preferred
