What You'll Do

Responsible for managing credit risk projects, initiatives and risk analytics within the Consumer Card Credit Risk group. This position requires knowledge and use of sophisticated database and statistical analysis tools to perform complex analysis, modeling and data visualization (interactive dashboards) for the purpose of implementing and optimizing credit risk strategies that support the risk appetite of the organization. The incumbent will manage multiple projects and develop iterative analyses for the purpose of making recommendations to optimize account origination, portfolio management and loss mitigation activities. Responsibilities also include reviews and analysis of trends in our various portfolio segments while comparing/contrasting to peer and other relevant industry metrics. The role is also responsible to develop new capabilities including forecasting tools at a portfolio, demographic, risk segment, macro, micro and vintage.

Will work closely with other stakeholders within the Credit Risk organization and other business groups including: Card Operations, Product, Credit Risk Analysts, Marketing, Compliance, Legal, Lines of Business, Risk Management and Finance. This role will develop and make strategy recommendations to mitigate risks while at the same time balancing profitable growth within the stated corporate risk appetite.

Specific duties will include:

-Data modeling, forecasting, and turning complex data-driven concepts into usable recommendations for senior Credit Risk Management.

-Perform market and risk segment analysis to develop business cases which provide a basis for taking on incremental risk, mitigating risks, optimizing credit strategies and driving decisions that may result in operational and/or credit policy changes .

-Conduct portfolio analysis and recommend decisions that will have a positive impact across the credit account lifecycle and create dynamic dashboards for more real-time scenario results.

-Monitor and analyze key performance indicators to determine how well the portfolios/segments are performing, how these impact credit and card operations and ultimately, how it impacts profit and losses.

-Key contributor in creating Consumer Card Credit Risk annual strategic roadmap and plan.

-Develop and recommend risk/product segment, channel and portfolio level business strategies and financial forecasts.

-Analyze results of specific marketing campaigns and associated performance of resulting new accounts or stimulated accounts.

-Provide analysis for Consumer Card Credit Risk Oversight Forums to drive transparency and share results of portfolio performance from a credit risk lens.

-Conduct ongoing market analysis of competitive landscape and work with other stakeholder for alignment of peer/market data.

-General monitoring, maintenance and validation of data necessary to perform analytics and reporting.

-Identify new relevant data sources to improve decision making in driving business performance.

-Other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

-Bachelor's Degree

-4+ years of related experience in Data Analytics or Business Intelligence or FI Analyst role

-2 years previous experience in SQL, Server 2012, T-SQL

-2+ years in a retail credit or credit card analytical role

-Advanced Degree in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Math, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics

In this Role, You will Need

-Demonstrates extensive knowledge of T-SQL programming that will be involved in data analysis, interpreting complex data requests and retrieving the data utilizing T-SQL analysis queries and procedures. Familiarity with database design and development methodologies.

-Demonstrates data modeling knowledge that will be involved with data modeling, forecasting and turning complex data-driven concepts into usable recommendations. Familiarity with data modeling practices and standards and skills in prototyping, benchmarking and empirical analysis.

-Demonstrates strong quantitative skills. Proficient knowledge in statistical techniques such as Generalized linear modeling, Time Series, Decision Trees, Neural Networks, etc.

-Demonstrates credit card business knowledge: General knowledge of the credit card business and ability to quickly grow understanding of industry, technology, marketing, and product trends, including but not limited to payments processing and credit cards.

-Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to use data to tell a story. Ability to be comfortable with statistics and number crunching and to work with large amounts of data and see the bigger picture. Ability to translate complex analysis in to an easily digestible form for business partners across multiple layers is key.

-Demonstrates data visualization skills which allow presentation of data in an understandable and engaging way, utilizing charts, graphs, infographics, pictorial diagrams and interactive dashboards.

-Demonstrates strong analytic abilities that allow candidate to interpret and spot patterns, trends and correlations in the data. Knowledge of data mining projects and making large and/or complex data more accessible, understandable and usable which may require transformation, improvement and integration of data from multiple sources, depending on business requirements. Ability to utilize a variety of methods to measure the performance of a particular portfolio or segment and knowledge of industry to compare UMB¿s performance against industry benchmarks and related parameters.

-Demonstrates hands-on working knowledge of: SQL, Server 2012, T-SQL, MS Excel, Report Writing.
