What We Need

We currently have two openings to join Prosper’s Risk Analytics team. The Risk Analytics team uses machine-learning, optimization, statistics and a scientific approach to problem-solving in order to build and design the models and strategies that govern automated fraud and credit decisions in Prosper’s online marketplace.

Prosper is seeking a Credit Risk Manager/Fraud Risk Manager. This person will play an important role in developing and optimizing credit and pricing strategies that drive automated lending decisions as well as the opportunity to utilize data science and analytical skills to implement strategies, models and recommendations that optimizes fraud and verification strategies. In addition to having a strong quantitative and analytical background with several years of experience working in the consumer lending industry we are looking for someone with a passion for solving these challenges in novel and interesting ways. What You Will Do

  • Develop and optimize approve / decline and credit line assignment decisions & identity/income verification strategies using A/B testing
  • Lead the efforts to constantly iterate and improve automated verification to optimal level
  • Enhance pricing strategies to optimize marketplace risk-return trade-offs
  • Analyze portfolio performance at a granular segment level on an ongoing basis. Identify trends and conduct root-cause analysis to isolate key performance drivers. Communicate findings and recommendations to the Risk Management and broader Prosper community
  • Work with large amount of credit bureau data, and statistical models to optimize credit decisions
  • Explore new statistical approaches and alternative data sources for developing strategies
  • Design new tests and optimize strategies based on testing results
  • Develop and track KPI reports
  • Work with Product and Engineering teams to implement recommendations on Prosper’s online platform
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis related to risk management, investor services, marketing, operations and corporate development

What You Will Need To Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or Economics. Master’s degreepreferred
  • 4-6 years of experience in consumer lending industry
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience programming in R or Python or SAS
  • Experience with Decision Trees and building strategies using them
  • Proficient SQL programming skills and advanced spreadsheet skills. Knowledge and experience of segmentation, statistical procedures, and financial analytic tools are required
  • Prior management experience leading 1-2 analysts preferred
  • Strong communication skills – ability to clearly and succinctly communicate technical subject matter to other team members and Senior Management team
  • Strong interpersonal skills – collaborate with people across functions and develop strong relationships
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.
