PRIMARY CHARACTERISTICS

The Credit Card Product Manager Sr manages strategic product and project planning for credit cards from conception to completion.  The position leads new product development, product management, sales and pricing strategies, and process improvement while continuously monitoring, researching, and implementing improvements to existing products, processes, and services related to credit card products, services, and the customer experience. This role is directly responsible for developing and delivering credit card products and services that drive high-value, high-quality customer service, and customer experience.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manages overall planning process for new credit card products, features, and initiatives
  • Serves as lead contact and product knowledge expert
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of the competitive environment related to credit card products and services and acts as an advisor to executives as needed
  • Develops strategies to sustain and grow the Bank’s competitive position
  • Performs extensive proactive research and analysis related to market trends, profitability, pricing, product positioning, and sales strategy and provides recommendations that are in alignment with organizational mission and objectives
  • Responsible for all phases of product development including research and planning, implementation, testing, execution, reporting, and monitoring
  • Leads cross-functional teams to establish consensus and develops fact-based persuasive business cases
  • Identifies legal, technical, operational, marketing, compliance, or other related requirements of products or services
  • Develops process efficiencies, needs-based assessments, business requirements definitions, user-flow designs, and user acceptance testing as needed
  • Responsible for evaluation and financial performance of the credit card line of business
  • Reviews and influences marketing communications, PR strategy, training, and customer service team to ensure product line success
  • Works with business areas, such as change management, sales, web development, marketing, risk, legal, compliance, and operations to evaluate, scope, and implement initiatives
  • Facilitates management communication and obtains consensus on priorities and initiatives
  • Adheres to organizational policies and processes to ensure business functions and process management protocols are followed for timely and effective delivery of stated requirements
  • Identifies ways to improve planning to maximize effectiveness staff output, while optimizing efficiency minimizing total staff time required for product development, product implementation, product maintenance or sales planning or processes.
  • Identifies and introduces products and services that adhere to organizational mission and objectives while also improving the supported channels overall ability to sell, service, and advise customers
  • Directs or assists in writing detailed business requirement documentation, including work-flow, assessment of impact to internal, and 3rd party systems
  • Acts as a primary business contact for 3rd parties for enterprise e-commerce and financial product-based initiatives
  • Creates accurate and effective financial pro forma and forecasts for purposes of product assessments

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

  • Extensive, in-depth knowledge of the credit card competitive project management skills
  • Contract negotiation skills
  • The ability to be flexible, resourceful, think strategically, self-motivated, visionary, and handle a multi-task environment
  • Strong understanding of credit card risk and regulatory environment
  • Excellent leadership abilities including the ability to interact in a positive, productive, and encouraging way with others
  • Experience facilitating cross-functional teams and organizational discussions around planning and prioritization of initiatives
  • Strategic decision-making abilities
  • Business-level technical understanding of credit account opening and servicing systems 
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Proven credit card product development skills
  • Fast and adaptive learner; able to get up to speed on new technologies, products, and/or services in short order and to assess feasibility
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Solid finance skills; ability to direct/review P&Ls and develop feasibility analysis
  • Knowledge and ability to develop and review contracts, disclosures, and other processes or procedures
  • Ability to quickly gather and assess relevant data and provide recommendations
  • Team-oriented individual who excels in a fast-paced environment

 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degreerequired; MBA preferred
  • Ten (10) years of consumer lending, banking, and/or financial services industry experience
  • Eight (8) years of experience in credit card product management and development 
  • Recent, hands-on experience rolling out new enhanced credit card products with direct responsibility for success of the launch.
