The Creative Director will be responsible for the overall creation of visual content by the Visual Communications team from concept to completion, serving as a thought-leader and a champion for the Cummins brand, and leading the creative team on projects for internal communications and employee engagement, and all markets, globally.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:


Manage creative team responsible for bringing to life the Cummins brand for internal and external audiences through video, graphic design, photography, copywriting, marketing literature and trade shows; project lead selected visual communication projects and provide technical leadership and expertise through completion

  • Lead the team's collaboration with our internal brand team and global brand agency to expand current campaigns and help create new ones; strategize on ways to roll out brand campaigns while being mindful of varying global strategies and tactics while also considering cultural differences

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams on visual and written communication strategy for marketing and communication campaigns; translate marketing objectives into clear creative strategies

  • Manage the creative process from concept to completion, including collaborating with external creative agencies when appropriate; ability to prioritize projects according to company objectives
  • Ensure consistency with corporate brand standards and brand standards associated with specific marketing campaigns across all visual communications

  • Oversee deliverables, timelines and budgets; manage relevant agency relationships and freelance network

  • Lead process improvement projects for the Visual Communications team, and identify and champion projects to achieve efficiencies and increase quality

  • Continue development of vision for creative group and identify and leads opportunities to leverage skill of team across other teams

  • Review creative work, troubleshoot and provide feedback to creative teams
  • Inspire creative team to constantly strive for excellence in the work they produce

  • Remain actively involved in talent management and the hiring and training of creative staff

  • Bench mark "best-in-industry" practices and stay up-to-date and educated on industry trends; challenge and introduce new and innovative methods of creative execution


  • Proficiencyin video concepting, directing and project management required

  • Functional in Microsoft Office

  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite)

  • Understanding of digital and non-traditional media

  • Proficiency increative direction within B2B industry is required; experience in manufacturing and global brands preferred
  • Understanding of integrated communications, including advertising, marketing and public relations

  • Strong verbal and written communications and listening skills

  • Professional tone, manner and appearance

  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize; ability to adapt to shifting priorities

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts, Visual Communication Design, Graphic Design, English,Journalism, Advertising, Marketing or related degree

  • Minimum 10 years of experience performing or managing a range of creative positions and/or teams in an agency or corporate setting

  • Experience in the business side of creative and design, including budgeting, agency and freelance management;understanding of financial processes
  • Stellar communication, presentation, problem-solving and project-management skills; ability to manage multiple projects and the teamsresponsible for executing them

  • Strong understanding of industry trends and creative tools

  • Proficiency in creative direction within B2B industry is required; experience in manufacturing and global brands preferred

  • Experience navigating a large organization and managing expectations of a diverse group of stakeholders
