Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Chief Metrology Engineer to join our team in Balitmore, Maryland. The Chief Metrology Engineer develops and evaluates metrology calibration systems that measure characteristics of objects, substances, or phenomena, such as length, mass, time, temperature, electric current, luminous intensity, and derived units of physical or chemical measure. Identifies magnitude of error sources contributing to uncertainty of results to determine reliability of measurement process in quantitative terms. Develops calibration methods and techniques based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems and accuracy and precision requirements. Directs and coordinates process improvement activities for the BWI calibration labs and oversees the development of all calibration software products. Must be familiar with metrology specifications ISO10012, ANSI Z540, ISO17025 and how they are implemented throughout a high technology facility such as BWI. Chief Metrologist's responsibilities will cover all aspects of the calibration laboratory operations and all metrology related problems of major complexity throughout the MS Sector. Must be knowledgeable in the entire calibration process which includes: reviewing compliance to specifications, calibration solutions, generating procedures, developing software, hardware fixturing, and documentation review and approval. Candidate must be familiar with equipment/facility requirements, test & measuring equipment, and SureCAL software development. Experience is required in generating technical reports and presentations to management, peers, and customers.
