Pratt & Whitney’s Legal, Contracts & Compliance organization has an immediate opening for a dynamic and experienced attorney with extraordinary business discernment, drafting and negotiation skills. If selected, you will report to UTC’s Vice President and Counsel, Military Engines, and will be based in East Hartford, Connecticut.

Responsibilities:

  • You will directly advise Military Engines’ senior business management on assigned programs and business pursuits in connection with proposal development, negotiations, FAR/DFARS provisions, general commercial law, strategy and risk
  • Support negotiations with domestic and international customers and suppliers on a broad range of legal instruments (e.g., sales contracts, licensing agreements, subcontracts, confidentiality agreements, etc.)
  • Partner with business leaders to achieve Pratt's strategic objectives, whether through risk mitigation, business process improvements, or other innovative solutions
  • Litigation & Dispute Resolution
  • You will counsel clients in with disputes, including areas of: Contract performance and cost accounting
  • Have the opportunity to purposefully set and implement strategies for successfully resolving disputes and litigation, including management of outside advisors
  • Compliance, Investigations & Training
  • You will support the development and improvement of Pratt’s U.S. Government Contracting compliance policies and procedures and provide associated training
  • You will lead or directly support significant compliance investigations, including in the areas of US Government contracting
  • Provide counsel to joint ventures and subsidiaries
  • Counselinternational as well as domestic business units on various operational legal matters, including corporate and commercial transactional issues, compliance and corporate governance matters
  • Counsel on the expansion, acquisition, divestiture or relocation of JVs and subsidiaries

*Education / Certifications

JD degree from an accredited institution and admission to either the Connecticut Bar or another state bar with eligibility for Connecticut Authorized In-House Counsel status

*Experience/Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
  • US Citizen due to program requirements
  • 6 + years of experience as an Attorney coupled by 4 + years working with US Government contract matters and substantial knowledge of FAR/DFARS
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Active Security Clearance
