We are looking for an energetic, experienced lawyer primarily to provide transactional support for HSB’s innovative and rapidly expanding Internet of Things (IoT) business and its growing corporate venture capital activities.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with internal business teams and external counsel to further strategic objectives of HSB while protecting its interests and mitigating legal risks. Significant responsibilities will include providing legal advice and drafting and negotiating contracts related to the development, partnering and commercialization activities of the Company’s global IoT business and other strategic initiatives; providing general legal support to Munich Re Ventures, including reviewing transaction documents, negotiating strategic partnerships and managing external counsel, due diligence and closing processes for investments; and providing broad-based general legal support on a global basis.
HSB, part of the Munich Re Group, is the insurance leader in commercial IoT technology. By leveraging data gained through sensors and the cloud, we are creating and supporting innovative products, services, and business models for clients around the world, with a focus on small-to-medium enterprises (SME) and industrial companies. Support would also be provided to HSB’s affiliate Munich Re Ventures, the San Francisco-based strategic corporate venture capital group for the entire Munich Re Group, which invests across all funding stages in various industries, including IoT, AI, and Cyber.

Ability to travel 15-25% primarily within US
Bachelor’s Degree; JD degree.
Minimum 3 years in house or law firm experience focused on corporate and business transaction matters; drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
Admission to Connecticut Bar.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Undergrad course work in Engineering
Experience in intellectual property, x-as a service (XaaS); data licensing; data protection; mergers and acquisitions; venture capital and global transaction of business.
