Summary:

  • Provides day-to-day support to the site General Manager for month-end close, budget development, and manufacturing cost-reduction activities and initiatives.  Helps oversee budget aspects of capital project governance at the site.  Collaborates well with other leaders at the site as well as with operational leaders in San Diego, CA.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees day to day aspects of the cost accounting function.
  • Participates in strategic cost savings and other value added initiatives within the operations, inventory, and costing functions.
  • Assists in maintaining and developing of the SOXInventory Narrative.
  • Assists in implementing process efficiency improvements through system automation and expansion
  • Assists in mentoring and developing Cost Accounting team.

 

     Lead of cost accounting team:

  • Oversees standard month end close activities related to cost accounting as well as post reporting analytics.
  • Develops and maintains standard costs of components and products in the accounting system.
  • Collaborates with operations, engineering & product management to ensure accurate BOMs, routings and item setups to aid in developing product costs.
  • Analyzes and updates various inventory related reserves.
  • Assist in providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Maintains price list accuracy and compliance within Oracle
  • Assists in the quarterly and annual financialaudits (compiling and preparing cost data for support of schedules and questions).
  • Ensures accuracy of inventory through physical inventories and cycle counts
  • Maintains and enhances the cost accounting system, and assists in the continuous improvement efforts of Oracle and general workflow. 
  • Provides functional support to the Director of Operations Finance in developing and documenting policies and procedures, including system requirements and internal controls.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises employees.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this area.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education:

  •      Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university required. Advanced degreepreferred.

 

Experience:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8years of related experience with a Bachelor's egree; or 6 years and a Masters's Degree; or equivalent combination of       experience and education
  • Significant experience in Tier 1 or 2 ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
  • Experienced with ERP report writers and Data Extraction.
  • Experienced with leading enterprise planning solutions and financial close products, preferably Hyperion
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Reasoning Ability:
