General Description: The position is responsible for all activities related to Payroll tax, including coordinating with 3rd party vendors to prepare Federal, State, and local tax withholding deposits. The position is responsible for auditing, identifying, and resolving tax variances as well as prepare funding requests for taxliability and payroll.


  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local legal requirements.
  • Develops and documents taxaudits and balancing procedures.
  • Investigates and responds to tax authority notices and correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Performs internal and external quarterly audits and builds relationships with internal and external auditors and local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Ensures all auditreports are reviewed timely and adjustments have been made prior to close deadlines.
  • Verifies new tax rates are being updated and creates new tax accounts when necessary.
  • Performs testing of new tax set-ups.
  • Ensure all exceptions are resolved beforerequireddeadlines.
  • Research outstanding bank reconciliation items.
  • Acts as liaison between Payroll and Accounting to resolve any reconciling items to the GL and the Bank statement.
  • Comply with Sarbanes Oxley Practices.
  • Audit garnishments
  • Work with Payroll Specialists on auditing during payroll week.
  • Assist Payroll Director with mock quarterly year-end reconciliation.
  • Work with Payroll Director on year-end processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or Finance.
  • 5+ years of professional experience handling multi-state payrolltaxes.
  • Payrollexperience with a large multi-state employer required.
  • Significant knowledge of payrolltax regulations and laws.
  • Must have UltiPro experience.
  • Must be detail oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to meet all assigned deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel.
  • Experience with bank reconciliations.
  • Must have UltiPro experience.
