Plan, direct and implement key initiatives to ensure a positive, safe, healthy and incident-free work environment

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies such as OSHA, MSHA, DOT, etc

  • Ensure compliance with DOT/FHWA regulations that govern our vehicle and fleet and drivers

  • Conduct facility safety audits, identify code violations, hazards or incorrect work practices, and prepare report and recommendations from audit

  • Recommend and oversee implementation of safety improvements in all departments to ensure safety and reduce workers compensation and other insurance costs

Reduce corporate liabilities, exposure and ultimately costs through sound environmental policies and practices

  • Acquire and maintain required permits

  • File required forms and reports in a timely manner, including DOT and HAZMAT forms

  • Continually audit each facility’s practices to ensure that we legally dispose of all the wastes and operate our business in an environmentally sound matter

  • Continually investigate alternative products and procedures that may improve our workplace environmentally and reduce Corporate liability and expenses

Maintain administrative support of overall EHS program

  • Provide recommended schedule for EHS related tasks such as mandatory training and documentation in support of various reporting requirements

  • Provide and maintain a centralized repository for all items related to EHS program

  • Ensure proper accident reporting requirements are met

  • Conduct post-accident and incidents investigations, determine probably causes and make recommendations for corrective action

  • Deliver new hire safety orientation training and other safety-related training, as necessary

  • Facilitate branch safety committee meetings

Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local health requirements

  • Ensure all working environments meet industry standard ergonomic requirements

  • Ensure all work areas meets standards for air quality (including special focus on paint shop and oil lab)

  • Conduct building and grounds assessments on periodic basis to detect code violations, hazards, and incorrect work practices and procedures

  • Facilitate AED training and equipment maintenance

  • Ensure proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is identified and available at each service location

  • Ensure eye wash stations (or equivalent) are located an maintained at each facility

    Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of federal, state and local regulations governing environmental, health and safety standards

  • Five plus years of experience in an environmental, health or safety position

  • OSHA 10 or 30 construction certified

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders

  • Proficiency in PC use, including MS Office & ability to learn new PC applications is required

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel regularly (Inter-branch travel with 2 to 3 days out of the office each week)

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the natural sciences, engineering, public health or demonstrated equivalent a plus

  • Board certified safety professional (CSP) - preferred

  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certified - preferred

  • Knowledge/experience with heavy construction activities - preferred
