Avaya is looking for a highly experienced intellectual property attorney and leader with experience in all aspects of IP law, including patent preparation and prosecution, trademarks, copyrights, intellectual property monetization, lP licensing, and IP litigation, to lead Avaya's IP Law & Management team. You will work closely with senior management to set and execute upon the Company's intellectual property strategy. You will be responsible for managing the IP Law & Management team and a significant IP budget. You and your team will be responsible for overseeing patent preparation and prosecution and maintenance expenses to maximize the Company's return on investment in IP and to ensure a high quality portfolio. You will also be responsible for managing outside counsel quality and expenses. Candidates should have experience in negotiating patent license agreements and with IP monetization. Experience in mitigating the risk of non-practicing entities, and with patent litigation, both threatened and actual, is also important as this position will work closely with the litigation team on both defensive and offensive IP litigation matters.
In-house experience preferred. Candidates should be team players able to build strong relationships within the Law organization and with our business clients. They should possess strong communication skills, and be able to thrive in an execution environment bolstered by accountability, empowerment and trust, and teamwork and alignment. This job has supervisory responsibility.
