COORDINATOR ADULT ACUTE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST - INPATIENT PHYSCIAL SPEECH THERAPY

  • Christ Medical Center, Oak Lawn, IL
  • FULL-TIME
  • Day Shift - Monday through Friday 8:30-5:00
  • Required to work approximately 1 weekend per month and/or evenings, holidays depending on area of assignment

JOB and UNIT SUMMARY:

Responsible for supervision of and daily operations of the acute occupational therapy department and support staff. Ensures that staff provide the highest quality of clinical services available in a cost-effective manner. Responsible for the delivery of direct clinical care to adults of all ages who are referred to the department. Selects appropriate evaluation procedures and develops individualized treatment plans to restore or maximize each patient's functional skills.

  • Responsible for all principal accountabilities of an Occupational Therapist II
  • Daily Supervisory Operations
  • Human Resources Management
  • Operational Planning

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy (or Bachelors degree for graduates prior to 2007) from an accredited school
  • Licensed or eligible in the state of Illinois
  • CPR Certification BCLS
  • Lead or supervisory experiencepreferred
  • 3-4 years' experience in the delivery of Adult OT services acute care experiencepreferred
  • Above average interpersonal skills and communication
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Average organizational skills
  • Required to work approximately 1 weekend per month and/or evenings, holidays depending on area of assignment
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases
  • Direct contact with body fluids
  • Pushing, pulling, lifting, transferring patients. Ability to perform heavy lifting (lifting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly)
  • Ability to assist, escort, transfer, and respond to patient needs for extended periods of time
  • Able to assist patients in ambulation over a variety of surfaces
  • Ability to use a variety of therapeutic modalities
  • Ability to observe deviations in posture and movement patterns
  • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one otherassociate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
