Will provide technical support to operating area managers and operators as well as participate in selection of new and replacement plant instruments\software.

  • Apply reliability principles in obtaining the best solutions regarding problems with instrumentation and set up of calibration and PM schedules.
  • Use engineering theory, practices, and principles to determine root cause of equipment\instrument failures and performs performance evaluations.
  • Will analyze equipment trends, historical data, and field data to develop measurable programs which will obtain lowest life cycle cost on different classes of equipment
  • Provide training as needed as well as provide direction to resolve field related problems pertaining to control systems and equipment.
  • Writes scope of work for instrument design based on preliminary review and meetings with the project teams.
  • Prepares engineering studies and schematic design for new systems and analyzes operation of existing systems.
  • Assigns and reviews work of project teams. Checks progress of work and alerts Project Managers to change of scope.
  • Coordinates all aspects of project document completion within the facility including external professionals.
  • Prepares or reviews construction budgets based scope of project for replacement and new instruments and control logic.
  • Maintains neat and organized work area which allows efficient access to project information required by other team members.
  • Manage outside contractors and vendors in maintenance and installation of existing and new control systems.
  • Manage system back-ups and reliability of each DCS and data collection systems.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • External candidates with a minimum of five years in a directly related controls position.
  • Ideal candidate will have a hands-on knowledge of control systems (DCS/PLC). Emphasis will be placed on skills related to ABB\Foxboro\Delta V control systems.
  • Applicable knowledge of instrumentation; including valves and transmitters
  • Proficiency and experience with concepts related to level, temperature, pressure and flow measurement.
  • A fundamental understanding of computer networks is desirable.
  • Technical proficiency in some software applications.
  • Strong cause-effect analytical abilities to solve problems.
  • Technical proficiency in some software applications.
