HMI/Controls Engineer will design, develop and maintain PLC and HMI/SCADA software control programs. Must be able to work independently to develop software based on user requirements and system specifications, focusing on economy, safety, reliability, quality, sustainability, modularity and reusability. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Designs software to control various pieces of equipment for use across the press industry.
PLC: Must have a verifiable history designing, creating and maintaining complete PLC program using the IEC 61131-3languages (not just ladder) in a variety of PLC platforms. Omron NJ series and AB compact Logix.
HMI: Must have a verifiable history designing, creating and maintaining complete HMI and SCADA applications with operation, maintenance, calibration, configuration, service and data collection, reporting screens and functions.
Hydraulic press systems and all associated material handling and support equipment.
Integration with customer lines and networks; remote access supportexperience.
OOP and modular approach with reusability in mind.
SOLID understanding of data collection, reporting and networking industrial control systems.
Employs various safety systems, guards & gates, monitors, sensors, transducers, instrumentation, for all forms of control; develops stable PID control systems for temperature, pressure, force, and position applications.
Participates in projects from the concept, detail design through implementation, testing and handover to customers.
Participates in creating user and maintenance documentation, field service support and in-house testing.
Develops and conducts tests to record, analyze and interpret test and performance data.
Proposes modifications and retesting products; qualifies the final product or system.
Prepares product documentation, writes reports and gives presentations; monitors product in use to improve on future design.
Other duties as assigned.
BS degree in Engineering.
7+ years capital equipment experience.
Track record in New Product Development and Product Improvement.
Proficiency in MS Office suite of programs and Solid Works with PDM.
Works to USA, British (BS), European (EN) and other standards.
Proven project management skills.
Hydraulic system design (preferred).
SQL database knowledge (preferred).
ISO S95 and S88experiencedesired (preferred).
Quality control program training (preferred).
Understanding of control system architecture and modern trends in design (preferred).
Willing to travel as needed.
