We need a Controls Engineer to design and install new electrical controls, improve existing controls design and support/troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.


  • Leading cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of electrical and controls projects while effectively balancing internal and external resources, timeline and budget adherence
  • Programming, troubleshooting and designing PLC controls, HMI and CNC drive systems
  • Analyzing project requirements and performing technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, robotics, safety standards and motor controls
  • Designing electrical schematics using electrical CAD software as needed
  • Leading justification (ROI), design, development, implementation and documentation of controls improvement and automation projects
  • Ensuring all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed including NFPA, OSHA standards and others as required when designing or retrofitting equipment and controls
  • Working directly with fellow coworkers and outside vendors to ensure alignment and effective execution of project initiatives
  • Engaging in the key principles of the high performance/learning-based culture: performance management, effective leadership, teamwork and collaboration, personal development and global mindset
  • Directing work of electricians as assigned
  • Assisting in the implementation and promotion of LEAN Manufacturing principles and culture throughout the Department
  • Traveling internationally once or twice a year for to support global manufacturing, safety and productivity initiatives
  • Traveling to vendors for evaluation and equipment runoff approval
  • Cross-training to learn equipment and technologies as required
  • Performing other duties as requested, directed or assigned

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Education ? BS Electrical Engineering, preferred; may be substituted by equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Controls Engineering & PLC Programming ?5+ years, in manufacturing environment, with strong fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design including specifications of sensor, power, vision, inspection and communication systems.
  • Electrical & Controls Improvements in Punch Press Area and Complex Assembly Processes ? previous/current Leadership experience, preferred
  • Robot Programming & Troubleshooting - ABB Robot, preferred
  • Converting or Retrofitting Mechanical Controls to Electric Systems ? using PLC, HMI and Drive Systems
  • Capital Projects Experience?experience from justification through design, build, implementation and verification, preferred
  • Work Instructions for Control/Equipment Operation, Preventative Maintenance Schedule and Quality Control Plans ?experience preparing/creating
  • Tools - MS Office, AB-Rockwell Automation and Electrical AutoCAD
  • Can work and solve problems independently, and take ownership over successful project execution
  • Can effectively handle multi-tasking of support activities while continuing to drive multiple concurrent projects
  • Can interact effectively with employees, including listening to employee?s issues, speaking to all employees with respect and being approachable
  • Can learn and implement new technology/ies
  • Strong work ethic and can work flexible work schedule to support global manufacturing initiatives
