Our Client, a rapidly growing Regional Petroleum Marketer, seeks a Full-Time Controller to provide a high level of accounting and management expertise. 

Essential Functions


  • Manage day to day accounting operations.
  • Proactively supportother team members on general ledger tasks as assigned and as needed.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely completion of standard accounting tasks.
  • Complete various treasury functions including the daily funding process related to credit line and set up of ACH/ wire payments.
  • Assist with set up of new products, profit centers, tax codes and terminals within back office system as needed.
  • Review checks processed by Accounts Payable.
  • Complete and review general ledger reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure good internal controls and processes are in place throughout the organization.
  • Assist and oversee the month end process including the review of the company’s financial statements.

Financial Analysis

•   Compile and analyze financial information for the company.

•   Develop integrated revenue/ expense analysis, projections, reports, graphs and presentations.

•   Identify trends within our company.

•   Assist in identifying opportunities for cost savings or revenue growth within the company.

•   Work with various systems available to obtain data, including but not limited to the SQL based budget tool, petroleum industry back office system and the company database.


  • Assist with the budget process.


  • Assist in creating a monthly packet of financial information to be distributed to management.
  • Complete information for surveys and study groups.


  • Assist in completing tax filings as needed on a monthly basis.
  • Gain expert knowledge on tax requirements of the various states and localities in which the company does business.


•   Lead projects as needed to implement new software, enhancements to existing software/ applications or to improve efficiencies in processes.

  • Work on special projects as needed.

Report directly to company leadership.

Education & Experience

  • Must have proven background in accounting in the petroleum distribution industry.
  • Accounting degree with public accounting and private accounting experience.
  • CPA.
  • Strong proven project management skills.
  • Very proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to create reports using report writing tools and experience creating queries utilizing MS Query or SQL a plus.
