Our client is a newly formed Not-For-Profit headed by some of the most influential people in Atlanta and basically a who's-who in local business. They wish to hire a Controller with Fund Accounting experience that will report to the CFO. The Controller is responsible for day-to-day accounting operations the organization and the Fund, including financialreporting, accounting, budgeting, tax, and financial controls. In addition, as this is a newly formed role, the Controller will be responsible for setting up the accounting department.

Essential daily duties will include:-

  • Financial deliverables for senior management, board of directors, donors and investors, including, as appropriate, income statement, cash flow statement and balance sheet, with variances to budget / forecast
  • Ad hoc financial analysis as requested by management
  • Oversee accounting contractor with journal entries, monthly general ledger close and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Ensure all regulatory reports are accurately completed and filed with the proper agencies
  • Manage accounts payable, employee expense reports, cash control, payroll processing, total corporate payroll tax compliance, and expenses and/or capital allocations between the company and the Fund
  • Manage cash flow forecasting; continuously collaborate with management to assess the financial efficacy of operations and establish financial and administrative systems to support operations
  • Manage and track the performance of invested assets
  • Coordinate all tax compliance including, income tax, payroll taxes, etc. for both the company and the Fund, working with outside tax advisors
  • Direct the annual audit and tax return preparation with outside accounting firm

Job Requirements:-

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of accounting or audit experience
  • Solid understanding of internal accounting controls and procedures unique to real estate funds
  • Talent to seek out and identify opportunities for increased efficiency as well as skills for implementation
  • Detailed oriented, organized and able to prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work closely and communicate with a senior management team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and other relevant department software.
