Brand Controller: Become the Newest Member of the VF Family
As part of VF Outdoor Coalition accounting team, this position provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data for the specified brand within the VF Outdoor Coalition.
How You Will Make a Difference:
Achieves financial objectives by managing monthly and year-end closing process for the specified brand; preparing budgets; analyzing expense variances; analyzing account reconciliations; initiating corrective action.
Summarizes current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statement, and other reports. Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information and trends. Maintains accurate brand financial statements consistent with Coalition reporting guidelines and in accordance with GAAP.
Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Provides appropriate and complete financial analysis and documentation behind account information and activity. Documents financial transaction by entering account information. Recommends financial actions by analyzing monthly results.
Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents. Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures. Identifies opportunities for improvements in financial procedures and controls, and leads implementation.
Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
Support brand management in analyzing and understanding financial variances. Provide recommendations to management and Brand CFO from the financial analyses performed. Provide brand analysis to help understand margin and profit trends of the business, with supporting recommendations to management. Identifies cost savings opportunities from financial transaction analysis performed, and leads initiatives to implement improvements.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking best practices; participating in professional societies. Complies with Federal, state and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising senior management on needed action.
Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe and secure environment; developing personal growth opportunities. Mentors accounting staff by providing individual guidance and technical expertise. Accomplishes accounting department staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling and disciplining employees.
Skills for Success:
Years of Related Professional Experience: 6-10 years industry experience
Educational/ Position Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance
Manufacturing or consumer products experience preferred
Leadership skills - management/supervisory experience required
Excellent PC and technical systems skills; SAP experience; Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet and database applications, preferably Microsoft Office, especially excel
CPA and/or CMA preferred
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels inside and outside VF Outdoor and Action Sports
Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
Strong organizational and problem solving skills
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment
Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
High energy level and positive outlook
Must possess good judgement and ability to problem solve
Stamina able to be maintained to manage a work level that may exceed 40 hours per week
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
High level of integrity required
