The general purpose of the Assistant VP of Finance is to supervise and control the General Accounting operations to ensure proper and correct recording of financial transactions. Assures hospital compliance with federal, state and local government laws and regulations, accrediting agency standards, hospital policies & procedures rules and regulations. Provides overall supervision of assigned personnel. Reviews and evaluates performance, promotions and disciplinary actions. Maintains and utilizes specialized knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Prepares annual budgets according to annually established calendar. Reviews and provides logical explanations for monthly, quarterly, and annual variances in general ledger accounts and hospital statistics. Prepare financial feasibility analysis for capital projects, acquisitions & new service lines. Maintains cost accounting system by service line. Develops, recommends and implements finance policies, systems and procedures. Determines Capital Equipment and physical renovation needs of Hospital and develops three year Capital Expenditure Plan. Promotes public relations within the Hospital and the community by participating in approved activities and/or sharing information for increasing awareness of hospital services. Promotes the growth and development of departmental personnel. Maintains professional competency through formal and/or informal education programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
B.S.in Accounting; Masters in Business Administration or Masters in Accounting. Minimum of 5 to 6 years of experience in healthcare accounting. CPArequired. Proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software; working knowledge of accounting principles and functions; ability to compile financial statements, reports and analysis; excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to lead and manage a group of employees. Ability to handle various office reports, notebooks, files or file folders on a daily basis. Occasional use of year-to-date/cumulative type reports requiring lifting of approximately 15-20 pounds. Manual dexterity and visual acuity necessary to utilize the PC and calculator; visual acuity also necessary for filing and proofing documents; ability to sit for prolonged periods of time; verbal communications and hearing ability to communicate with a multitude of customers. Ability to meet the attendance requirements of the job.
