DESCRIPTIONAbility to provide technical analysis in data planning, engineering and design. Ability to provide basic analysis for implementation techniques and tools for efficient solutions to system problems of limited scope and system installation.
Areas of Responsibilities
- Actively coordinate with team members and other service support groups to effectively resolve incidents and requests.
- Provide technical support and service restoration for daily operations and project efforts.
- Work assignments include issues involving multiple components (e.g. network, operating systems) and integration of components.
- Solve incidents on standard systems and assist in providing supports on exception or specialty systems, which may include but not limited to, installs, configures, customizes, troubleshoots, upgrades, integrates, and maintains systems, software, workstations, printers, wireless devices and handheld devices.
- Support and collaborate with team members and other technical staff Promote understanding with customers on the benefits of the IT service provider model to help foster collaboration.
- Lead hardware, software, and service enhancements by identifying and quantifying requirements, delineating the gaps between customer requirements and the capabilities of existing technology, and recommending proactive improvements Build deployment tasks for software images.
- Create and manage computer images.
- Escalate application issues to appropriate ITS personnel and provide appropriate documentation of troubleshooting steps completed via centralized help desk.
- Assist in developing, testing and implementation of backup and disaster recovery systems.
- Conduct analysis, planning, testing, and implementation of solutions.
- Develop and edit customer and technical support knowledge base documentation.
- Develop and follow best practices and procedures and share knowledge with team members.
- Assists with configuration and set up of printers, projection devices, and monitors to work effectively for various instructional purposes.
- Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend any required meetings.
- Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, and an effective work ethic.
- Serving in this role, you will learn/ refine your skills, working with the SCE power system configuration, control system database and display editing tools and has thorough understanding of the SCE grid operation, substation construction and maintenance and engineering business processes.
- Will maintain the control system databases and displays as related to SCEs Transmission and Distribution Operations, Engineering and several other T&D businesses.
- Will conduct analysis, and provide recommendations to address database and display issues as they relate to the operation and control of an electric utility as well as implementing tools and utilities to enhance and automate the generation of databases and displays.
- Work closely with the business clients to understand their needs, scheduling team for the visiting client’s sites to gather their input and provide refresh training on user interface and applications.
- Work with PSC infrastructure engineers and other PSC groups to implement T&D capital infrastructure replacement jobs and automation projects.
- Responsible for tier one service desk function and the handling of all service requests from T&D Operations.
- Serving in this role, you will ensure the database and displays used by T&D groups are maintained accurately and according to the standard as well as adhere to policies and in compliance with NERC and FERC.
- Projects - Perform the database and display work by interfacing with PSC infrastructure engineers and other PSC groups for implementing the T&D capital infrastructure replacement jobs and automation projects. Perform configuration of the control system/SCADA databases and construction (linking) of the real time single lines and overview displays used by the T&D Operations and Engineering groups for control, monitor and maintaining of the electric grid.
- Maintenance - Perform analysis, and provide recommendations to address database and display issues as they relate to the operation. Either implement or work with the maintenance team to implement tools and utilities in order to enhance and automate the generation of databases, displays, real time calculations and configuration of devices. Establish standards for database and display convention, layout and organization.
- Support - Be responsible for tier one service desk function and the handling of all service requests from T&D Operations.
- Client Facing - Perform site visits to switching centers or other client sites in order to gather their feedback and provide refresh training with user interfaces and control system applications that are applicable to the users.
- Safety, Standard and Compliance - Ensure the database and displays used by T&D groups are maintained accurately and according to the standard as well as adhere to policies and in compliance with NERC and FERC.
- Decision Making Impact - You will make daily decisions affecting the implementation of the database and displays to the T&D Operations. You will meet regularly with business to gather feedback and provide them with refresh training. You will perform tier one service desk function and ensure that incident and service requests are met. It is critical for you to be thorough, handle database and display requests independently and conduct work in an accurate manner, due to the safety and reliability impact to the control and monitoring of the electric grid.
NUMBER OF OPENINGS1 POSITION REQUIREMENTSEducation and Experience
- AS Degree in Computer Science or related field plus two (2) years of computer experience working with in an enterprise support role OR any equivalent combination of education, certification and experience.
- A minimum of four (4) years of working in a related role requiring confidentiality, timeliness, customer service, organization, prioritization, troubleshooting, and working independently to successfully install, configure, maintain, and support Windows and/or Mac desktop operating systems and layered software. Proficiency with some or all of the following technologies: SMART Technologies, Apple IOS, CPS, Windows 7/8, OSX 10.x, Microsoft Office, Browsers, Local Account Management, Scripting, Installs and removals, Registry, Command line, Help ticket system, System Management Tools.
