Role Description
The Rexnord Business Systems (RBS) Manager, New Product Development – Water Management, will lead the improvement of New Product Development tools and processes across the Water businesses. In addition to process leadership, the RBS Manager will lead key improvement initiatives driven by strategic growth goals and provide hands-on project management across a variety of water-related business groups and geographies.  Topics within the New Product Development space include initial and ongoing VOC execution, market research, customer segmentation, concept testing, PLM, configuration management, product development methodology, project management, product testing, advanced manufacturing, and agile development, among others.  Strong leadership, communications and continuous improvement skills are necessary to help drive the RBS culture across the company.  This position has high visibility with the leadership team and reports directly to the Director of RBS – Water Management.


Key Responsibilities

• Improve key business metrics of OTD, productivity, and EBITDA by implementing and supporting lean and continuous improvement activities

• Ensure successful definition and execution of large, cross-functional improvement initiatives tied to annual strategic priorities

• Directly support both RBS leadership and product development leaders across the company to achieve strategic deployment objectives by conducting workshops, kaizen events and providing guidance through the project execution

• Drive the operation to reduce scrap, improve inventory turns, ensure 95% on-time delivery to customer want date, improve and sustain product availability and reduce manufacturing lead times

• Promote and facilitate shop floor work flow analysis and creating/implementation of standard work to achieve improvement priorities

• Coordinate and track the monthly strategy deployment activities and initiatives in support of meeting Business Metrics, Annual Improvement Priorities (AIPs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Drive “best practices” in all areas of responsibility

• Lead efforts to reduce set-up time and increase throughput to achieve and sustain 95% OTD through the use of deployment and strategic business growth

• Educate, engage, and empower future leaders by creating and facilitating lean daily management training and development programs

• Implement Lean processes in accordance with the organization’s Lean Implementation Plan (Standard Work, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Problem Solving, Kaizen and Pull Principles)

• Promote and facilitate shop floor work flow analysis and create/implement standard work to achieve improvement priorities

• Oversee organizational participation in lean initiatives to achieve RBS metrics

• Drive associate participation (including process experts) in Lean initiatives. Institutionalize problem solving tools to address and resolve problems

• Identify and share best practices across the different Rexnord locations

• Work with product development leaders as a “thought leader” to define current state situation, assess gaps in process/capabilities/talent, and assist in development of the future state in line with strategic plans

Qualifications Required

• University bachelor's degree; advanced degree preferred

• Travel up to 75%

• Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills

• 5+ years’ experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment with assignments in lean manufacturing/continuous improvement tools and processes

• Demonstrated ability to teach/train in Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen tools

• Prefer hands-on experience implementing Lean in non-operational functions
