Job Description 

Lead all facets associated with driving continuous improvement efforts and reducing manufacturing and/or operational cost per unit. Drive improvement in every aspect of the facility focusing on the major losses and opportunities.  Focus on SQDCPM (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Productivity and Morale/Engagement)   Responsible for direction, organization, staffing and equipment for the warehouse department.

- Partner with each functional leader in the plant to drive improvements in every area
- Partner with plant finance to determine and prioritize the most impactful projects to work on
- Develop, lead, and monitor CI programs such as 5S and LSW by direct continuous involvement
- Identify and develop cost saving projects to improve manufacturing efficiency and product line contribution margins
- Analyze plant resource utilization and recommend improvement initiatives
- Identify key waste initiatives, including seeking out and eliminating waste in all plant functions
- Develop charters, project savings, and lead continuous improvement teams
- Assist production employees and teams in improving operational excellence
- Track production performance
- Prepare reports and charts for improvement opportunity identification and problem solving on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis
- Analyze operational data and work with established teams to develop action plans for improvement
- Lead Kaizen events when opportunities are uncovered to improve existing processes and strive to instill positive sustainability
- Follow up on closed projects to ensure results are realized and sustained
- Support, via budget and human resource allocation, food safety, quality and safety program development, maintenance, and improvements
- Understand and utilize ShopLogix for reports and CI opportunities.  Supervise scheduling warehouse staff to maximize efficiency and minimize total cost.
- Responsible for warehouse Kronos timekeeping and payroll.
- Supervise shipping and receiving activities with all other departments and customers.
- Responsible for warehouse employee performance reviews.
- Responsible for warehouse KPI measurements and results.
- Responsible for finished product inventory and cycle counts.
- Ensure all employees are doing the job right and the same (Standard Work)
- Perform any duty necessary as requirements develop
- Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive
- Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements
- Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment
- Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity
- Attend required training, including but not limited to, Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in an applicable discipline
- 3+ years managerial or engineering experience, preferably in a food processing facility
- Demonstrable experience in process improvement and lean manufacturing practices
- Knowledge of packaging/processing technology
- Knowledge/expertise in lean manufacturing principles (Kaizen, work balancing, 5S, TPM, Six Sigma, etc.)
- Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems, specifically Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Minitab)
- Able to utilize root cause analysis techniques (fishbone diagram, Pareto charts, 5 Whys, etc.)
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- Able to present to, lead, teach, train, coach, and mentor employees at all levels in accomplishing the goals of operational excellence in the plant
- Must have strong organizational skills to maintain multiple work streams simultaneously.
