What You'll Be Doing

As a Market Data Support Specialist, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the seamless delivery and integrity of real-time and historical financial data across CIBC's trading and investment teams. You'll work closely with traders, portfolio managers, quantitative analysts, IT professionals, and external data vendors to monitor and optimize data feeds, troubleshoot issues, and maintain robust market data infrastructure. Your expertise will help bridge communication between internal stakeholders and external exchanges, ensuring the firm’s data usage remains compliant and efficient. You'll be responsible for managing vendor relationships, maintaining entitlements, and supporting exchange audits, all while leveraging your technical skills to support and enhance market data platforms.

How You'll Succeed

  • Data Flow Monitoring & Troubleshooting - Oversee low-latency market data feeds, promptly identify and resolve latency issues, and investigate packet drops or missing ticks to ensure data accuracy and reliability.

  • Vendor & Exchange Management - Act as the primary contact for external data vendors and exchanges, manage entitlements and permissions, and support the negotiation of licensing agreements.

  • System Maintenance & Optimization - Maintain and optimize infrastructure related to market data platforms and servers, including Bloomberg, Refinitiv, and proprietary order management systems.

  • Compliance & Governance - Ensure all data usage complies with exchange policies and licensing agreements, and assist with exchange audits and documentation.

  • Technical Support & Automation - Utilize scripting languages for data extraction, automation, and reporting to enhance operational efficiency.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate hands-on experience monitoring and troubleshooting market data feeds, using tools like Wireshark, Grafana, and Prometheus to resolve issues quickly. You’re comfortable interfacing with exchanges and data vendors, tracking issues, and managing entitlements and licensing agreements. You’re proficient with market data platforms. You bring experience with Bloomberg Terminal, Refinitiv, B-Pipe, TREP, or similar platforms, and are adept at maintaining related infrastructure on Linux/Unix environments.

  • You have relevant programming skills. You are skilled in SQL, Python, or VBA for data extraction, automation, and reporting.
