Project Manager/Estimator

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have completed technical training in construction, construction management, or project management. You must have relevant constructionexperiencewith a minimum of 5years in a Project Manager or supervisory capacity in Commercial Construction. An emphasis in Restaurant/Retail is a plus. Salary: Negotiable - Some travelrequired.

· Knowledge of scheduling, drawings and specifications for related work, as well as construction methods is essential

· Plan all constructionschedules, work sequences, performance requirements and milestones required to complete the project as bid

· Support Field Superintendents from the office and with site visits from start to finish

· Be able to do quantity take-offs of site & building concrete, reinforcing, masonry, lumber, etc

· Position may require providing clients with estimates of all items as per project specifications

· Maintain accurate budget forecasts, including revenue, manpower, material expenditures, profitability across projects

· Coordinate information and activities among estimating, financial and construction as well as subcontractors, vendors and project superintendent, ensuring proper communication flow, utilizing project meetings, correspondence, and documentation as necessary


Prepares and maintains status of plan reproduction

o Solicits and maintains communication with subcontractors and vendors

o Prepares subcontractor bid packages

o Transmits addenda and other bid information to subcontractors

o Ensures that we have the proper coverage from subcontractors on bid day

o Contacts supply houses to obtain additional subcontractor bids

o Shows creativity and resourcefulness to gain better pricing from subcontractors

o Prepares bid form and submits bids on bid date

Review bid requirements thoroughly and asks follow-up question on every bid

o Has a thorough understanding of the scope for specific trades assigned

o Develops RFI's and clarifications and ensure adequate subcontractor coverage and shows


o Performs a comprehensive "bid day" analysis and scoping of specific assigned trades

o Understands how to fit subs to the size/scope of project

o Creates bid lists that fit scope of job, ensuring that we have the right subs for the project

o Minimize exclusions by “doing our homework”
