Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Construction Inspector for immediate employment. Incumbent may be based out of our Tucson or Phoenix office. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day inspection and quality assurance of projects with minimal supervision. This is a part-time variable position with potential for full-time, meaning work days and times will be determined on an as-needed basis.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Collect information from various sources to fully understand and enforce contract documents such as standard specifications, plans, and special provisions

  • Perform and check the accuracy of complex computations including those performed by other staff

  • Analyze the contractor schedule to plan out the inspection of projects in their entirety

  • Conduct pre-activity meetings for various construction activities such as asphaltic concrete, PCCP, striping and major structures, box culverts, bridges, traffic control, storm drains, implementation of SWPPP, and other minor incidentals

  • Supervise lower level inspection staff

  • Expert understanding of equipment and technology used to gather samples and information from the field

  • General understanding of the project delivery process and the interaction between the disciplines within a group

  • Knowledge of supplemental agreements such as change orders and letter of agreements

  • Knowledge of Force Accounts and ADOT standard policy and procedures specifications, and documentation

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma

  • 10+ years of ADOT experience

  • SWPPP Certifications

  • ATSSA traffic control certification

  • Local Municipality (Counties or Cities) experience

  • ATTI and ACI

  • Strong Knowledge of Construction Practices

  • Expert understanding of equipment and technology used to gather samples and information from the field

  • General understanding of the project delivery process and the interaction between the disciplines within a group

  • Knowledge of supplemental agreements such as change orders and letter of agreements

  • Knowledge of Force Accounts and ADOT standard policy and procedures specifications, and documentation

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must have good computer skills and knowledge

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, Word, and Excel to document various construction activities

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • NICET

  • Proficiency in the use of ADOT software Pen, Quantlist CPE

  • Possession of an Arizona driver's license
