Job Description

  • As a component engineer, you will evaluate bills of material for new customer orders and locate alternate sources for components; negotiate reduced lead times and improved pricing with component vendors. In addition, you will be responsible to:        

  • Transfer bills of material into MRP system
  • Provide engineering, purchasing and receiving inspection with component substitution support
  • Maintain master component database
  • Review customer-specified parts to eliminate problems for purchasing
  • Process engineering changes
  • Resolve discrepancy reports for component-level issues
  • Assist Purchasing to resolve component-level technical issues
  • Maintain accurate, current revision levels on engineering drawings and parts lists
  • Enter new Item Masters, Bills of Material (BOM) and Bills of Operations (BOO) as required
  • Identify irregularities and prepare exception report for appropriate departments (e.g., purchasing,
    production) and customer review
  • Provide technical support and interact with Engineers, Buyers, Receiving, Inspection, and others
  • Adhere to General Requirements of Team Members
  • Responsiblefor the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their
    work area
  • Perform other assignments as required

Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with electronic components and component part numbering
  • Ability to write and speak effectively with employees at all levels in the organization
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability
  • People skills - customer oriented, positive attitude, team participation, problem solver
  • Detail oriented with attention to accuracy
  • BS degree - BSEE preferred
  • 2-4 years component engineering experience
  • Computer skills; thorough working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, and Word
