The wide variety of industries and applications served by U.S. Silica includes oil and gas, glass, chemicals, foundry, building products, fillers and extenders, recreation, industrial filtration and treatment, and testing and analysis. 

U.S. Silica is looking for a dynamic Compensation professional to work at our Frederick, MD Corporate HQ.

The Compensation Analyst will be responsible for the administration of the company compensation programs such as salary, bonus, stock, LTIP and incentive plans etc. U.S. Silica has over 1,000 employees at 20 locations throughout the United States. The Compensation Analyst position is centralized at our corporate headquarters in Frederick, MD.  

Under the direction of the Senior Benefits and Compensation Manager this individual will be responsible for assisting with the planning, implementation, development and evaluation of compensation processes and programs to support business objectives. Provide compensation analysis and reporting, and recommends compensation programs and processes, including: incentive pay, variable compensation, bonus program, salary ranges and structure. 

•Working with Senior Benefits and Compensation Manager on a variety of projects including program design, analysis, budgeting for the HR department, implementation of new bonus incentive programs

•Recommends base pay and bonus programs

•Manage projects such as survey participation and analysis, compensation integration for mergers and acquisitions

•Develop and document procedures to streamline processes and ensure compensation compliance with regulatory requirements and work withHR Managers to educate on the regulatory compliance

•Reviews new positions in anticipation of recruitment to ensure appropriate classification. Based on position-specific information, determines if an existing description can be used for classification. As necessary, modifies and creates new descriptions which accurately reflect current roles, responsibilities and requirements. 

•Uses published or conducts ad hoc surveys to obtain and analyze market pay rates. Makes recommendations on appropriate pay grade level. Reviews recommendations within internal equity parameters. Prepares reports on findings and handles administrative steps to formalize recommendations.

•Reviews manager’s request for job reclassification and makes classification/pay level determination. This includes reviewing job responsibilities and evaluating both internal and external equity for the position and preparing written reports on findings. 

•Reviews jobs as part of a broader effort including reorganizations, contractual reviews or project, including both job audit and evaluation. Document job-specific findings and recommendations to contribute to a comprehensive project report

•Researches situations as they arise related to aspects of compensation to provide clarity for resolution in consideration of contract provisions, historical practices, similar situations, etc.

•Reviews and recommends salary placements for new hires

•Provides data input to annual salary surveys and makes recommendation on annual salary budget, bonus incentive plans etc.

•Additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

Education:

•Bachelors' Degree, Business, HR or Finance 

•Compensation industry certifications a plus; SPHR a plus

Experience:

Minimum five years’ experience in a compensation role

•Expert Proficiency in Excel – Vlook Up, Pivot tables

•Strong and creative analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative, and strong problem-solving skills required.

•Strong team player with a proactive personality to find and evaluate challenging issues.

•Excellent written and verbal communications are a must

•Proactive and results oriented; self-starter with positive attitude

•Demonstrated experience in being trustworthy in handling sensitive and confidential information is required. Confidentiality is a must.
