The Communications Specialist role manages internal and external communications for the Asset Protection Division. With a focus on promoting a positive image and conveying important information for internal and external audiences, strong communication and writing skills are critical to success. Experience in corporate communications and project management are important qualities.
This role is within the Marketing and Communications department of Protectives’ Asset Protection Division. Working collaboratively with teams across the enterprise, this individual will manage the Division’s communication plan for internal audiences and distribution partners. Additionally, this role will be responsible for content creation requiring strong writing skills with a background in B2B organization(s).
Play lead role in developing and lead management of annual communications strategy
Manage internal communications (memos, newsletters, email campaigns, etc.)
Draft content (e.g. press releases) for trade media or company website
Develop and organize content for internal meetings (town halls, management meetings, webinars, etc.)
Liaise with media and handle requests for interviews, statements, etc.
Foster relationships with advocates and key trade media contacts
Collaborate with marketing professionals and other departments to produce articles, announcements, and media reports
Partner with internal external teams to facilitate the resolution of disputes with the public or external vendors and maintain positive brand positioning
Assist in communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership
Other duties as assigned
Proven experience as communications professional with writing samples
Experience in web content production and knowledge of email development best practices
Experience in copywriting and editing
Solid understanding of project management principles
Working knowledge of MS Office; strong presentation (PowerPoint) development skills; photo and video-editing capabilities is an asset
Experience with media tracking tools
Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills
Ability to distill large amounts of complex industry-specific information into easily consumed content for internal and external audiences
Outstanding organizational and planning abilities
Proficient command of English with firm understanding of AP Style Guide
Minimum of 5 years corporate communications or relevant agency experience
Bachelor’s in public relations, communications, or relevant professional experience
Insurance industry experience a plus
