Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safety-related proactive and reactive communications strategies.
  • Manage media relations with regard to safety issues across the United States and Canada, including drafting statements / responses and providing background information to help reporters understand Lyft's policies, features, and positions on safety.
  • Maintain relationships with key media, bloggers, and experts.
  • Apply attention to detail and be highly organized.
  • Work in partnership with functions across the company - including operations, legal/compliance, insurance, product, and customer experience - to ensure safety-related stories are reported accurately.
  • Serve as internal project manager, maintaining relationships with cross-functional partners.

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant communications and/or public affairs experience.
  • Proven ability to be an effective spokesperson.
  • Rock solid writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organization skills, ability to meet deadlines, a sense of urgency, and attention to detail while remaining calm under pressure.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the representation of Lyft.
  • Experience managing issues and with crisis communications.
  • A team player with an ability to deal with the ambiguity that can come from working with many teams.
  • Lyft user/believer and a great sense of humor.
