JOB PURPOSE: The Communications Manager manages the development and implementation of strategic communications plans and content to achieve the internal and external objectives of the business unit and its product lines, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of strategic messaging and global communications for Crane Solutions businesses to educate and persuade target audiences, generate leads and build market awareness to meet marketing objectives.
  • Interact globally with internal and external clients including product management and sales personnel to develop and implement successful marketing content
  • Create content for all external delivery vehicles, including web, social media, print and digital advertising, public relations, direct mail, brochures, technical documents, videos, case studies, articles, white papers, blogs, FAQ documents, sales presentations, newsletters, e-marketing, and related marketing materials
  • Manage, create and deploy internal communications content, including intranet, company newsletters, internal presentations and other information as assigned
  • Manage relationships with outside vendors to produce promotional materials for the Crane Solutions business unit.
  • Manage the graphic design function, overseeing schedules, content and quality produced by internal and external resources
  • Manage U.S. and international media relationships as well as media planning, negotiating, buying and placement.
  • Manage product launch activities ensuring effective communication of key messages and production of launch materials is completed in a timely fashion
  • Manage and execute company email programs utilizing Act On or MicroSoft Dynamics email programs
  • Create and implement standardized procedures for marketing company's products and services in a timely, organized fashion.
  • Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes in the industry.
  • Perform a leadership role in the department, serving as a technical resource and mentor for others on the Marketing team.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires a Bachelors degree in business, marketing, communications, journalism or a job related major and seven to ten years of related experience; or a combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential. Exceptional proofreading skills required. Strong ability work in teams and influence others at all levels to move projects forward is essential. Client services orientation required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures. Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, brochures, product literature and manuals, training manuals, and promotional advertisements. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, vendors and other employees of the organization.

SOFTWARE SKILLS: Requires strong knowledge of MS Office Suite particularly excel and power point.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: REASONING ABILITY: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and work well under deadlines and time constraints. High degree of organization and attention to detail required. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to creatively solve complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
