Position Summary:

The Communications Manager oversees the development and execution of all internal communications for Conn’s retail division. This role is influential in creating and enforcing communication processes and guidelines, with a focus on continuous improvement of communication at all levels within the retail organization. The Communications Manager is also responsible for providing retail team performance analysis, and is involved in annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, payroll, reporting and variance analysis.

Responsibilities:

The Communications Manager’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Define overall internal communication needs, develop detailed communication plans, and lead execution to ensure communication goals are achieved
  • Act as the gate keeper for retail communication establishing process, procedures, and controlling mechanisms
  • Prepare communications, often with fast turnaround time; effectively manage different messaging requests and create easily understood communication materials
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to determine and define the needs and communication requirements; provide communications expertise and execution support
  • In partnership with Marketing, maintain suite of branded materials and key content to ensure consistent use across the team
  • Develop metrics to measure retail communication effectiveness and focus on continuous improvement to communications strategy
  • Prepare retail operational reports; identify and investigate variances
  • Identify discrepancies in data, determine cause, and communicate to appropriate departments
  • Assist in creating budgets and business plan targets
  • Prepare and distribute a variety of reports, including both recurring and as-needed reports
  • Partner with accounts payable team to process retail invoices and other expenses
  • Assist management team with development and tracking of annual budgets and monthly forecasts
  • Participate in special projects
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Business or other related field required; Advanced degreepreferred
  • 3-5 years minimum experience in corporate communications or other related experiencerequired
  • Retail or multi-site experiencepreferred
  • Strong ability to develop content with ability to present complex information in easily understandable formats; project management and communications planning experiencerequired
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and comfortable interacting across stakeholder groups (entry level employees through executives)
  • Strong written communication skills — Demonstrated short and long form writing skills, strong line-editing, copyediting and proofreading skills, varies writing style to meet needs
  • Strong oral communication skills — speaks clearly and persuasively; possesses ability to engage others; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; actively participates in meetings; demonstrates ability to influence others
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, with advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to think innovatively and creatively, and change course if necessary, to achieve desired results
