Deploys, acquires, maintains and ensures security of information technology assets. Plans and tests processes to ensure compliance with system requirements, business objectives, security standards and other technical requirements.

Job Function: Infrastructure Engineering

Designs, analyzes and supports the company’s information technology structure, systems and processes. Acquires, designs and implements the company’s information technology resources (e.g., computer hardware, operating systems, communications, software applications, data, databases, etc.). Ensures compliance with system requirements, business objectives, security standards and other technical requirements following FFIEC framework.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Sr. Specialist, Infrastructure Engineering leads all aspects of design, deployment, installation, testing and verification of all Infrastructure Solutions related to his/her area of expertise, under the direction of the Manager, Infrastructure Engineering. The Sr. Specialist, Infrastructure Engineering evaluates existing systems to ensure they offer adequate security and are effectively meeting the needs of the organization. The incumbent will leverage resources from all areas of the organization to see that the system is working optimally and make adjustments or recommend enhancements in systems to existing problems and improve the effectiveness of the Infrastructure domain.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides status updates and maintain documentation.
  • Reproduces production issues in a lab environment.
  • Implements new Infrastructure products and standards of operations, related to his/her area os expertese, throughout the technology organization.
  • Documents the proposed reference architectures/generic infrastructure design for the integration and implementation of the technologies within his/her area of expertise, working across the IT department.
  • Evaluates and identifies best practices and lessons learned after a new system has been integrated; provides feedback incorporating this information into future integration plans.
  • Supports vendor relationships in all related technologies so that services are delivered to us effectively and efficiently.
  • Implements agreed process improvements to the Infrastructure Engineering function.
  • Trains and coaches colleagues as needed.
  • Collaborates in the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry, and market trends on technologies related to his/her area of expertise.
  • Participates in architectural assessments and unbiased analysis of key decisions within projects including impact on systems, costs, business processes, timelines and other key variables.
  • Follows communication strategies that will guide the organization to standard technologies or create new standards as development needs arise.
  • Maintains a detailed knowledge of relevant tools, within his/her area of expertese, to support the business in meeting customer expectations and service requirements.
  • Identifies opportunities to further enhance customer service and service delivery through automation and analytics.
  • Works as an escalation point for incidents and issues related to his/her area of expertise.

  • Education –
    • Bachelor’s Degree: in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent field.
    • or equivalent work experience
  • Experience –
    • 3-5 years supporting and maintaining Avaya/Nortel based Telephony environments; TCP/IP networking experience, support of internet services and applications.
    • Certification/Registration: Avaya Aura System Administration; Avaya CMS
    • Understanding of Windows 2003, 2007 and patching requirements
    • Understanding of Windows client operating systems such as XP and Vista – In depth knowledge of TCP/IP
    • Strong written and verbal skills – Broad general knowledge of desktop PC hardware, applications and peripherals.
    • Knowledge: Work requires a strong understanding of telephony Specifically, ISDN, analog, PRI, T-1, E1, etc.
    • Understanding of various telephony platforms is required (Avaya PBX, Avaya IP/SIP, CMS, eCAS, and Modular Messaging).
    • Understanding of personal computer software set up and installation, PC connectivity products and network connectivity.

    • Technical knowledge of Infrastructure Solutions in his/her area of expertise

    • Experience with virtualization storage software such as VMWare
    • Experience with Network Technologies
    • Experience with Middleware & Data Technologies
    • Experience with Cloud Environments (Azure, AWS, Softlayer)
    • Ability to work in a high pressure collaborative environment
    • Ability to demonstrate a strong problem solving skill set

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently: Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Occasional moving and lifting of equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders.
