The Supply Chain Commodity Manager reports to GILLIG’s Materials Manager and is a key strategic supply chain resource responsible for one of GILLIG’s largest areas of material spend. As an assembly operation, GILLIG depends heavily on the efforts of the Supply Chain team, its Supplier partnerships and its ability to ensure we remain the lowest cost provider in the industry. Through their technical knowledge of metal fabricated componentry ranging from large chassis components and body panels to small bracketry, combined with cross functional teamwork and supplier negotiation, the Supply Chain Commodity Manager ensures all their components are available to Manufacturing on time and at the best cost. The Supply Chain Commodity Manager builds and executes a supply chain roadmap for their category of parts. Candidates are expected to be very hands on and autonomously perform strategic analysis and be able to purchase their components directly according to the required demand. He or she must have previous technical background in metal fabrication, be passionate about the position and the products we produce as well as be highly motivated, analytical with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task.
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field with previous work experience and technical knowledge in a Supply Chain position is preferred. Successful candidates can potentially come from a variety of different backgrounds including but not limited to Supply Chain, Engineering and Finance, provided they have technical knowledge in metal fabricated componentry and prior experience in the Supply Chain field.
