Job Description:

Position SummaryOversees all activities associated with the purchase of commodities. Leads the continuous improvement effort within the supplier operations; and manages comprehensive strategic programs for key elements of the commodity grouping. Job Responsibilities

  1. Demonstrates knowledge of assigned commodity market, tracks general market conditions and recommends purchase strategy to senior level management
  2. Executes approved commodity purchase strategies, with appropriate agreements ensuring continuity of
  3. Provides the organization with a technical understanding of the relevant commodity industry
  4. Monitors the economic performance of the supplier category as well as the performance of key suppliers within the commodity
  5. Negotiates, creates and manages long term contracts and supplier partnerships and supply agreements ensuring uninterrupted supply, highest quality and total lowest cost
  6. Conducts major initiatives such as supply base reduction and early supplier involvement
  7. Executes sourcing strategies and continuous improvement efforts within the supplier operation
  8. Provides high level interface between suppliers and internal customers to resolve any issues and provides problem escalation or resolution
  9. Performs some lead responsibilities which may include: training, assigning and/or reviewing work, providing guidance and overseeing work flow of unit
  10. Performs other duties as assigned

Job Skills Requirements

  • Expert knowledge within a broad range of commodities
  • Ability to solve issues through critical and creative thinking
  • Demonstrated sourcing success in an extended enterprise environment or must possess knowledge and experience from another function, which would enhance the background diversity of the Supply Chain team
  • Ability to manage and motivate suppliers and key constituent groups
  • Highly developed analytical and communication skills
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain or equivalent education and experience

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in sourcing or related field in a high volume manufacturing environment
  • Some International sourcing experience

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Domestic and International travel as required not to exceed 30%
