Job Description

Objectives and Responsibilities of Position

The Commercial Field Technical Consultant is focused on customer and sales support. The CFTC provides unitary product training for customers and employees, as well as field product support. The CFTC focuses on Commercial controls and the rooftop product line.

The CFTC is responsible for technical training as a way to equip our Commercial Alliance contractors and key Residential Dealers with the knowledge they need to accurately install, operate and trouble shoot Commercial equipment. The CFTC also provides technical support of all Commercial products for a designated coverage area.  Within this coverage area the CFTC is the sole provider of technical support for Commercial products. The CFTC will support both Commercial Contractors and Residential Dealers in the designated area.


Standard Work Areas & Processes


  • Provides all Commercial product technical training and quality and technical issues for their designated geographic area for both Commercial contractors and Residential dealers
  • Hosts training classes in the off-season in order to allow for a focus on technical support during the high-season
  • Responds to technical support inquiries over phone, email, and in-person
  • Focuses on training for the Prodigy control system, controls integration, and basic mechanical installation and service
  • Publishes a 60 day calendar with set training classes and locations









  • Successful, 5+ year  track record in training and customer relations
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experiences. Engineering degreepreferred
  • Broad knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service which includes assessing customer needs, meeting quality standard for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Understands of how to balance local market considerations with the overall corporate priorities of the business


  • Expert in the industry and Commercial HVAC controls and mechanical products, with a preference for experience with Lennox product
  • Broad knowledge of principles and methods for training, technical support, and problem resolution
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and training skills which include an understanding of different learning theories and how to apply those in a classroom setting


  • Expert ability in building relationships, listening, persuading, negotiating, and managing time
  • Cross-functional leadership skills; viewed as credible by business unit/functional leaders
  • Customer service oriented and team focused
