The Dean provides program leadership that aligns with the vision, mission, core values, and strategic initiatives of the college to maintain a collegial academic environment conducive to quality outcomes and professional growth.
The dean is responsible for the operations of all health programs including curricula, fiscal, personnel, and student management as well as the planning, implementation, and evaluation of program outcomes and meeting accreditation and other regulatory standards. The dean is instrumental in the planning and implementation of new programs and process improvement strategies in existing programs to facilitate strong outcomes.
Reports to: Assistant Vice President for Health Care Program
Provides strategic leadership that aligns with the Mission, Vision, Core Values and strategic initiatives of the College.
Coordinates the hiring, supervision, evaluation, and professional development of faculty and staff.
Works collaboratively with faculty to ensure academic quality while focusing on student satisfaction, retention and program completion.
Work collaboratively with faculty to ensure academic quality and to meet or exceed established benchmarks related to student satisfaction, retention, program completion, and licensure/certification outcomes.
Ensures the development, review, revision and evaluation of curricula to align with organizational and professional standards.
Coordinates faculty assignments and course schedules to facilitate academic efficiency.
Facilitates a collegial academic environment that fosters high standards, mutual respect, professional growth and collaboration.
Develops an annual budget in collaboration with program directors and faculty to ensure adequate resources. Provides rationale for operating and capital budgets.
Administers the program budgets to ensure adequate program resources, accurate accounting, and fiscal responsibility to the college
Administers the budgets in accordance with guidelines to ensure fiscal responsibility.
Provides leadership to ensure the review and assessment of programs and student learning outcomes and lead improvement processes, as needed.
Participates in school and college-wide assessment activities.
Coordinates all licensure, approvals, and accreditation activities. and oversees required reports and self-studies
Serves as chair or member of designated school and college committees, councils, and teams
Prepares written and oral reports related to activities and accomplishments in area of responsibility
Ensures that program files and student records are maintained in accordance with college, state, and federal guidelines
Responds to and addresses program-related complaints and concerns in accordance with policies and to promote beneficial outcomes.
Collaborates and works closely with the Assistant Vice President for Health Care Programs to support the review of existing programs and development of new program offerings.
Collaborates and works closely with college personnel to facilitate programs’ visibility and growth; and student, staff, and faculty satisfaction.
Collaborates and works closely with communities of interest to provide input into school offerings, program processes, and industry trends.
Education Required: Doctorate degree in a Health Science related field from an accredited institution.
Experience Required: Minimum of five (5) years of teaching and administrative experience in an academic environment that includes supervisory experience.
Experience with accreditation agencies and other regulatory agencies.
