Smartronix Inc., a Premier Amazon Web Services Consulting Partner, Microsoft Gold partner and Google Cloud Platform Premier Partner, is currently seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and self-starting Cloud Engineer with a background in Linux engineering and administration to join our expanding Cloud Services business unit and work with some of the best Cloud Architects and Cloud Engineers in the market. A successful candidate will bring their motivation and hands-on Linux experience to the table in support of professional services delivery engagements with large enterprises. The Cloud Engineer must be able to interface directly with customers and management, dig into hands-on deployment work, and operate as a trusted adviser throughout the project. They will have opportunities to be involved at all stages of a project. A Cloud Engineer at Smartronix takes on any task - big or small - to efficiently and effectively get the job done.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the full project lifecycle
  • Work collaboratively with other customers and team members, communicate effectively, and foster team success
  • Architect Linux (Ubuntu) cluster, handle operating system installation, support application installations
  • Perform regular maintenance on Linux (Ubuntu) cluster (e.g.: security patches, backups), as well as other day to day Linux-related tasks
  • Identify system or performance issues, and develop resolutions
  • Draft or contribute to architecture diagrams and data flow mappings
  • Write, or contribute to, operational runbooks for long-term environment support
  • Support technical discussions both internally and with customer teams
  • Produce high-quality technical design, build and procedure documentation
  • Provide transparent and regular status updates to Smartronix Project and Account Management team members
  • Support Project Manager with project ingestion and planning activities
  • Support internal solution delivery, managed services and quality management practices
  • Support after-hours incident escalations and/or maintenance windows as needed
  • Achieve and maintain AWS, Azure and/or GCP certification levels

Required Skills

  • Strong ability to translate customer requirements into industry-recognized design patterns and recommendations
  • Hands-on experience with Linux (Ubuntu) operating system installation, cluster design, related configurations and operational tasks
  • Hands-on experience deploying common infrastructure roles and tools (e.g.: DNS, NTP, Group Policy, Active Directory/ADFS, Web Application Firewalls, logging services, web proxies)
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g.: VPC / Landing Zone, CloudFormation, Lambda, CloudTrail, Config, VPC Flow Logs, Systems Manager, cross-account IAM configurations, advanced CloudWatch configurations)
  • Hands-on scripting experience preferred - e.g.: Python, Perl, BASH, PowerShell
  • Basic knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and related toolset preferred - e.g.: Terraform, Ansible, Packer
  • Strong analytic, organization, presentation, customer service and facilitation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
