The Cloud Engineer will be a core member of a technical team that’s responsible for designing, building and supporting cloud infrastructure. The role is to construct and manage cloud service provider environments as per various business requirements and security guidelines. They will ensure that these enterprise cloud environments are setup and managed efficiently for high availability and cost effectiveness.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Diagnosis and repair of incidents within the cloud environments

  • Proactively address support requests with the intent to learn and understand how backend processes correlate to frontend actions.

  • Managing information by ensuring ticket notes are kept up to date and are complete.

  • Planning & organizing changes within the cloud environments.

  • Monitoring & reporting of incidents relating to the cloud environment, particularly in relation to hand over as part of a follow the sun support organization and critical situation management.

  • Participate in team-wide Change Management process as both implementer and verifier ensuring changes are completed efficiently and correctly.

  • Continually works to enhance breadth and depth of knowledge and experience

  • Work with Data Security to ensure all infrastructure is in compliance with standards

  • Create technical documentation that can be referenced by peers as formal processes and procedures tofollow while completing daily tasks.

  • Manage technical projects working directly with other functional teams.

  • Engineer technical solutions based on support requests to ensure quality of service and SLA requirements are met.

  • Planning & organizing changes within the cloud environments.

  • Drive continuous improvement in availability, serviceability and efficiency

  • Monitors the infrastructure and provides metrics for KPI reporting

  • Manages the integration of cloud application and infrastructure services into existing IT systems

  • Coordinates with technology brokers to evaluate new cloud technologies and service offerings

  • Coordinates with enterprise architects and information architects to ensure new cloud services align toroadmaps and to understand the impact on the organization’s information architecture

  • Understands business requirements and works with process analysts to ensure that integration activities enhance business processes or to minimize any negative impact

  • Liaises with external providers to resolve any issues in the functionality and interoperability of new cloud, applications, cloud-based infrastructure, and other cloud services with existing IT systems

  • Participates in the evaluation, selection and implementation of technology solutions

  • Manage and prioritize infrastructure deployment activities

Job Requirements/Competencies

  • Experience with Automation and Orchestration, mainly Ansible

  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker

  • Knowledge of Cloud Providers native applications

  • Convey governance principles to the cloud infrastructure

  • Builds a collaborative working relationship with various internal and external stakeholders

  • Competent in new technology evaluation and should be able to support technical change management

  • Excellent analytical and technical skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to communicate, influence and persuade peers

  • Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations

  • Ability to write complex Ansible scripts

  • Ability to deploy and maintain Cloud Providers native tools

  • Experience and Knowledge with security policies, firewalls, encryption, and security information and event management systems

Education/Certificate/License Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience

  • AWS Certified Professional Solutions Architect

  • AWS Professional DevOps Engineer
