Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/related discipline is required or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Cloud Computing Support Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of systems, configurations, and automation scripts in private and public cloud computing environments
Maintains the integrity and security of cloud computing environments and related systems
Serves as a front line interface to users with technical issues
Makes recommendations for hardware and software purchases
Interacts with third-party technology vendors and internal database staff
Conducts systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies
Duties may include installing new software, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications and training users
The Cloud Computing Support Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day support of Cloud Computing environments and related systems
Performs administration of cloud management and support tools
Monitors Cloud environments and related systems using monitoring tools
Executes necessary configurations to ensure compliance with back-up and disaster recovery policies and procedures
Supports Cloud related standards, policies, and procedures

Contributions are usually limited to assignment related activities

Contacts are primarily with direct supervisor and other exempt professionals in the group or department
Requires familiarity with software development concepts sufficient for automation scripting

Requires familiarity with system administration concepts sufficient to operate cloud computing tools
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with non-technical and technical audiences
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of individuals including technical and non-technical staff
Ability to work individually with supervision
Must have basic analytical and problem solving skills
Demonstrates ability to learn and apply GDMS culture, policies and processes
Able to accept & integrate constructive feedback
Understanding of access, permissions and security that gives the clients the access to the data they need to perform their daily activities
Elevate more complex issues

PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science
