Overview
We have an immediate opening for a Senior Cloud Solution Architect to perform cyber security activities for DON commands transitioning to cloud environments. The Cloud Solution Architect will serve as consultant and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for cloud migration project governance, process development, and strategic planning.
Responsibilities
- The Solution Architect will assist with the preparation and conduct of Engineering Analysis (EA) materials and other Engineering support events, as scheduled by the customer. This may include: current state assessments, migration plan development and coordination with various stakeholder points of contact, review of assembled engineering artifacts, assisting the Technical Director in presentation of EA events, and support of all EA activities associated with system changes through the lifecycle of the project.
- The Solution Architect may also be tasked with the evaluation of various projects and/or related systems that require advance development to evaluate alternate design considerations or to provide data upon which to base a decision in the Enterprise Systems & Services-provided test facility, as well as writing and deploying systems via Infrastructure-as-Code (IAC, e.g. AWS CloudFormation, TerraForm, Ansible, etc.) The emphasis will be on evaluating system/subsystem performance as well as conduct of overall system, integration testing of proposed development models.
- The Solutions Architect will perform technical contract support within the timeframe and formats assigned, meet the quality and technical requirements of the customer, and all submitted work shall be accurate and complete.
- Consult with the ServiceNow development team to establish the Navy’s Cloud Digital Marketplace
Qualifications

- Knowledge of Navy Cloud policies, to include brokerage
- Knowledge of DISA Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide
- Knowledge of Government Cloud Service Providers Impact Levels
- Knowledge of DON Networks (NMCI/NIPR/SIPR)
- Knowledge of MPLS Networking
- Knowledge of Cloud Scaling and containerization (Docker/ Kubernetes)
- Direct experience migrating applications and/or systems from the enterprise to
- AWS (additional experience with
- SAP NS2 and/or Microsoft Azure experience is preferred, but not required)
- Proven past performance architecting application systems in AWS for requirements satisfaction, high availability, and cyber security
- Understanding of SaaS applications’ architecture/constraints SaaS-specific governance/configuration experience
- Experience with the FedRAMP and DISA Provisional Authorization (PA) processes (preferred)
- Experience writing and deploying systems via Infrastructure-as-Code (IAC, e.g. AWS CloudFormation, TerraForm, Ansible, etc.)
- Ability to work with minimal guidance and meet deadlines on schedule
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasking effectively
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to learn information quickly
- Familiarity with DoN command organization and IT Networks, Systems & Services
- Final SECRET security clearance
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) Solutions Architect Certification (Associate or Pro)
- ITIL v3 Foundation Certified (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or related field) or equivalent experience (Master’s Preferred)
- 10+ years software architecture/development experience, to include at least
- 1 year of enterprise, full-lifecycle architecture and in-depth, hands-on work experience with large-scale implementation of AWS
- 3+ years of experience migrating and deploying cloud-based solutions, AWS preferred
- 3+ years architecting, implementing, and supporting AWS infrastructure and topologies
