The Closeout Buyer is the linchpin of the purchasing team responsible for identifying the best quality closeout items and negotiating the lowest possible price. The Closeout Buyer must be creative at finding desirable merchandise, negotiating great deals, developing their own structure, and making their own decisions. Excellent computer, communication, and organizational skills will be crucial, as will the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment. The Closeout Buyer will have the ability to expand their own job responsibilities and suggest improvements, collaborate with others to generate new ideas and to improve processes.

REPORTS TO: Vice President of Merchandising
? Builds and maintains a strong network of vendor/supplier contacts to track down great merchandise.
? Performs critical tasks associated with buying Closeout Merchandise including, but not limited to:
o Selecting merchandise.
o Negotiating costs and discount terms.
o Setting retail pricing ? taking into account transportation and logistics costs ? to meet company sales, margin, and inventory turn goals.
? Coordinates with buying team and operations team to develop ?WOW!? items for ads, ad copy, and ad planning.
? Identifies and shops competition to maintain excellent pricing, merchandising, and selection.
? Maintains knowledge base of industry and competitor market trends as it relates to their assigned business area.
? Maintains existing and develops new product categories and assortments.
?Partners with the store management to complete accurate forecasts to evaluate sales, markdowns, inventory, and product placement.
? Provides correct information and inputs for point of sale signage.
? Maintains integrity and quality of signage for ease of store execution.
? Manages and controls the markdown process for their area.
? Analyzes sales trends, key items, vendor profitability, and agedinventory.
? Makes recommendations for driving improved performance.
? Any other duties as assigned.

BEST Requirements to be considered for this role:
?Bachelor?s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university required? a combination of education and experience (additional 4years minimum) may be considered in lieu of a degree.
? Minimum of three (3) years of buying experiencerequired.
? Merchandising, product knowledge, and strong analytical skills required.
? Demonstrated resourcefulness and creativity at finding unique items and great values required.
? Systems Experience? Practical work experience with one or more Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Point of Sale (POS) system required.
? Minimum of intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required; advanced proficiency preferred.
BEST Qualifications for Success in this role:
? Four (4) or more years of buying experiencepreferred; eight (8) or more without a Bachelor?s degree. ? Proficiency with Epicor Eagle POS preferred.
? Demonstrated strong negotiating skills ? able to present compelling information to influence others.
? High level of understanding of current trends within interior design, home remodeling, and retail outlet operations preferred.
? Strong analytical skills ? able to develop compelling data driven presentations and draw reasonable conclusions supported by data. ? Able to work both collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
? Strong detail orientation.
? Strong communication skills ? ability to clearly present information and ideas though a variety of mediums including both verbal and written.
