Position Summary

The University of New Mexico, Health SciencesCenter, Department of Internal Medicine, seeks a faculty member to join theDivision of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. This position isfor a Clinician Educator track. Salary and rank will be commensurate withexperience and education. This position may be subject to a criminalrecords screening in accordance with New Mexico law.

Responsibilities will includea mixture of up to maximum of 10 weeks of service as a critical care attendingin the MICU and as a pulmonary attending on the consult service and may bedivided between UNMH and Sandoval Regional Medical Center. Two half days ofclinic per week; of the ICU weeks, one week will be in house nights covering adultICUs overnight. The proportion of ICU to pulmonary weeks is based on divisionalneeds and will be adjusted on a yearly basis. Completion of appropriate billingand documentation in a timely fashion and maintain up-to-date medical recordsas per policies of the Department.

As the only academic medical center for the state, only level onetrauma center, this is an amazing opportunity for innovation in teaching andproviding care for both rural and urban populations from diverse cultures. Critical care facilities include a 24-bed medical intensive care unit,24-bed trauma surgical intensive care unit and 24-bed neuroscience intensivecare unit but we anticipate moving into the new Critical Care Tower with atotal of 96 ICU beds in 2025.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be board certified in Internal Medicine; and
  • MD or DO or MBBS
  • Must be eligible to work in the US

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education of fellows and house staff in pulmonary and critical care medicine
  • Scholarly activity or quality improvement projects
  • Board eligible/certified in Pulmonary
  • Board eligible/certified in Critical Care Medicine
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity,inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diversecommunities
