Job Description:

Position Summary:

  • The clinical nurse leader (CNL) is the clinical leader for a program (Critical Care Services) or area of nursing practice within Trident Health.
  • The advanced knowledge and skills required for this role include clinical expertise in a focus area, evidence-based practice, collaboration, consultation, education, mentoring, and change leadership.
  • These are essential to advance the practice of nursing and the professional development of nurses.
  • The specialized knowledge and skills are used within three major areas of focus: patient/family, nurses and nursing practice, and the organization/system.
  • The CNL and the Director & Manager of Critical Care are partners in leading the nursing clinical practice area.
  • The CNL coordinates and guides clinical activities/projects of nurses within the following 3 areas: ICU, PCU, and 3 Tele.
  • The CNL is accountable for collaborating with members of the health care team as well as the management to design, implement, and measure safe, cost-effective, evidence-based care strategies.
  • The CNL is responsible for maintaining current professional knowledge and competencies and contributing to the advancement of the practice of nursing at the unit/system, local, state and/or national and international level. 

Job Requirements: 

Education:

  • Master?s Degree in Nursing is required. If not present on hire, must enroll in graduate program within 12months of hire.
  • Graduate preparation to include advanced preparation in clinical specialty.
  • Licensue/Certification:
  • Current license as a registered Nurse to practice in the State of South Carolina. 
  • Experience:
  • Hospital nursing experience in a specialty area preferred.
  • Experience should include responsibilities as a staff nurse, preceptor, or leader with demonstrated ability in management, leadership and communication skills with unique adult teaching abilities.
