Responsible for provision of pharmaceutical care to patients managed by the Emergency Department. Activities include verification of orders, participation in rounds; evaluate, monitor and modify drug therapy; provide recommendations to optimize patient outcomes, minimize safety issues and insure cost effectiveness. The pharmacist should be an effective communicator and be able to integrate themselves within the health team and the current structure of the pharmacy department. Additionally the candidate should coordinate pharmacotherapy activities of department pharmacists and residents within the Emergency Room. Finally, the candidate should fulfill requirements associated with hospital and department policies and procedures, JCAHO and other regulatory agencies.
Current pharmacy license to practice in the state of Pennsylvania.
Doctor of Pharmacy Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy. Three to five years of experience in hospital pharmacy practice including precepting students and residents or similar experience in an academic setting. Completion of a Pharmacy Practice Residency and possibly a Specialty Residency preferred.
